Normally I dread doing negative columns, but today I could not wait to write this one. I just got back from my dentist appointment, and the whole time that I was there and then driving home I just couldn’t stop thinking about what I was going to say about last night’s Raw. And as negative as my thoughts are, and they are, I’m really glad that I have the chance to talk about them. I think most of us feel that right now things are pretty bad. Injuries are really starting to take a toll on Raw more so than on Smackdown. And last night oh yeah you could feel just how Shawn Michaels absence affected Raw.
I could spend time talking about how good the Ric Flair/Carlito match was, or how much I liked the Hardys’ vs. Nitro and Kenny, but even more than the match I really enjoyed watching the new nice kids on the block Cade and Murdoch. I could also talk about the match that Candice and Melina put on which I thought was done very well. I could even mention that John Cena and Khali’s segment came off okay. But I would much rather focus on three men, Bobby Lashley, Vince McMahon and Shane. These three guys absolutely ruined Raw for me. In fact I never had a problem with Lashley, because I always liked him. But obviously I don’t like him as much as Vince does. Because never in a million years would I give this kind of push to Lashley that Mr. McMahon has given to him.
Lashley is not Austin, Rock, HHH, Taker, HBK or John Cena. And I think shoving him down our throats like they did last night was just totally wrong. In one night Vince McMahon made me not like Bobby so much. I don’t want to say I hate him, or despise him but after last night I can’t even look at Lashley right now. And I will be very honest with you. I didn’t watch one match he was in. As soon as Lashley and Vince opened Raw and Vince made the three Gauntlet matches that was it for me. Bobby got a push a HUGE push that he is so not ready for. And putting him with Vince and Shane just makes it that much more painful to watch. By the way how many more times will we have to sit through Umaga vs. Lashley? Well for me no more, I am so done with this feud, with Vince screwing over Lashley, and with Lashley not on only on Raw but ECW week after week.
I read today that tonight could be RVD’s last night with WWE. And I also read that Vince is trying to get Chris Jericho to come back because of the lack of “TALENT” on the roster. Well lack of talent wasn’t used, that’s my take on the situation. But I will say while I’m not happy at all about RVD’s drug arrest, I feel sign him; keep him and damn it get him on Raw. And the same goes with Jericho, Raw definitely could use him. And Raw proved last night that YOU CANNOT make Raw about Lashley. You know when Hunter got hurt back in January my fear was that HBK would take time off and get his knee done and return when Hunter returned. And I remember thinking if And having Michaels on week after week has been great, at least for me it has been. But thankfully Shawn stayed on and having him on week after week helped make Raw worth watching. But now that he’s out and he’s expected to have knee surgery this week, my concerns have unfortunately come true. Raw without Shawn Michaels stinks. Sure you have to give the young guys a chance I totally agree with that. But you just don’t take one of the young guys and showcase him like he’s a major WWE superstar.
I think what got to me as much as Lashley TV was the fact that in two weeks there’s another pay per view with a Khali/Cena rematch AND another Lashley/Vince rematch. Oh how I wish that show was on now, and NO I REALLY DON’T. This will be another show where I will be saving my forty bucks and don’t forget three weeks after One Night Stand is Vengeance. It’s going to take something really BIG to get me to pay for that one. I say until Rey Mysterio, Booker T, Triple H, Undertaker and HBK return combine the shows and get your top guys like Batista, Edge, CM Punk, Mr. Kennedy once he returns and others on both shows and give the fans some star power and solid matches with solid feuds. Because right now I would say most of the Raw roster could stay home while Vince and Lashley do the complete two hours of Raw. I’m sure Vince would love it; after all I really think that he believes that he brings so much to the shows. And he used too but not anymore. And until he realizes that I’m afraid that we are in for more shows like last night, and that is something I don’t even want to think about.
Yeah last night was a long night and I’m not even looking forward to watching ECW. Mr. McMahon has ruined that one too. So I will just hope and pray that Smackdown will be a good show and that it will make up for the crap that we got last night. Let me leave you with a request from one of my readers. By the way, I did pretty badly with my Judgment Day predictions. I only got three right. But the way that things were going it looked like I was going to miss all of them so I guess three is better than nothing. Okay here’s the request. I missed the 5-18-07 Smackdown. If anyone has it on tape, I will pay-pal you the postage if you will send me a copy of it. Please help me out! Thank you and you can email me mondaymorningsmainevent@charter.net
