As you know I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do a Raw column this week because of my brother in law’s health. He’s barely alive and I believe by Friday he will pass. I was not home to watch Raw, but I did tape it, and I watched it yesterday. Let’s face it there’s so much crap I could talk about so what I thought I would do is make this column partially about Raw, last night’s ECW and this coming Friday’s Smackdown. Now for the Smackdown part it will be my last paragraph. It is somewhat of a spoiler, yet it is posted on WWE.com. If you don’t want to see it, I’ll leave some space so you can stop reading after my ECW rant. I want to take each show and talk about something major that is happening and let you know my feelings about them. Just to give you a preview, this isn’t going to be pretty.
Of course the main feud on Raw is now Khali and John Cena. Before I get into my thoughts on this, I want to say right now that my feelings about Khali have nothing to do about the man personally. Anything that I say about him is strictly about professional Khali. And with that I say, come on, out of the blue we are supposed to pay forty bucks to watch a Khali vs. Cena feud? To me this is a lose/lose situation for the fans and I will tell you why. Didn’t Taker in two pay per views lose to Khali? So what? Cena is going to be made of steel and beat this giant at Judgment Day? OR, Khali who has done very little as far as wrestling goes is going to walk out as the new WWE champion? See none of this pleases me at all. I have said from the start Khali would be a great body guard. I don’t want to see him in a pay per view main event. Not only because the man isn’t a wrestler, but he really hasn’t done much and all of a sudden, he gets this title shot. And as far as Cena goes, it’s time for him to drop that belt, well it was time at Wrestlemania, but if he beats Khali in my opinion it’s just going to turn the fans more against him, because he’ll be like Super-Wrestler, he can beat anyone, not matter what size he is, or how STRONG he is. I am so turned off by what is going on with Raw right now.
And that brings me to ECW. This is kind of a two parter. How do I express myself so you really know how I feel? Let me think. Okay I am DISGUSTED, FED UP AND JUST ANGRY BEYOND BELIEF by the way Vince McMahon and even Shane have taken over Raw and ECW. I am so tired of going to WWE.com and seeing Vince’s face plastered all over the site. You know X-Pac used to get booed out of the building and it wasn’t heat for his character it was genuine hate for him. And that’s what I’m feeling for Vince. His over done facial expressions have worn out with me. His 20 minute promos that offer nothing, because anything he says could be done in five minutes are making me livid. And then to come on ECW and book a RVD match against Shane, Umaga and himself has become so repetitive. We saw those three at Backlash against Bobby Lashley, and Monday night that rematch was made for Judgment Day. And then we get the same three going against RVD last night. Come on RVD wasn’t going to win; it was just another way to keep Vince and Shane on TV. Vince can bring so much to a show in small dosages, but this man has just gone too far and it’s hard for me to even watch. Well honestly I basically channel surfed during the match with Van Dam.
The other thing that is getting to me is the way CM Punk again has lost his momentum. We had two good weeks of Punk with the New Breed and last week and this week we are getting less and less of Punk being showcased. I found his match against Monty Brown, yeah I can’t get used to the Marcus whatever they call him. But the match was nothing special and the crowd reaction was so weak. I guess Vince can’t make Punk a top star when he wants that role for himself and for his son Shane. Last night’s show offered absolutely nothing to me. All it was was another way to give Vince/Shane and Umaga on air time.
Finally as I said if you go to WWE.com, you will see that Edge is now the new World Champion. He took the title from Taker last night and Smackdown now has Edge. I am so happy that Edge is now on Smackdown and that he has the title. As much as I wanted to see Shawn Michaels go there, Edge was my second choice and I really believe he’ll add so much to the shows, including strong mic work. I think this was an excellent move and I am looking forward to Friday’s show. I will admit I felt terrible that Mr. Kennedy….Kennedy lost his MIB contract. I understand that he will be having surgery for a torn triceps, but I thought they could have kept the contract with him until his return. It saddens me with Kennedy because he had a major push coming because Taker will be out for several months. But I do understand that now with both Taker and Kennedy gone for a while Smackdown is in dire need of a top name if not two top names. So Edge’s win definitely pleases me and I really can’t wait to see Batista and Edge start feuding.
I really have to thank you for letting me vent especially about Vince. I go through this a lot where I question why am I even watching WWE TV? I’m there now because the star power is missing on Raw and Vince is definitely not the answer. I have to say right now things are not going well for some of us wrestling fans. I’m not giving up only because I hope that after Judgment Day the McMahon’s disappear and that Cena and Khali do not continue their feud. So again thanks for the opportunity to let me get this out. I don’t know about a column over the weekend, and if I’m missing for a short time you all know why.
