Boston (eCanadaNow) – THQ and Jacks Pacific announced that WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 is on the way to the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
The game is set to be the largest release for the series to date as it will also be available on the Nintendo DS as well as the Sony PSP.
The press release put out today states, “We are extremely pleased with the success of the SmackDown vs. Raw franchise and its continued growth to a widespread audience, particularly in our European markets,” said Bob Aniello, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, THQ. “With the addition of fresh, innovative game play on the Wii, the tremendous capabilities of the PlayStation 3 system and unique handheld experiences for Nintendo DS and wireless devices, gamers can now truly live the life of a WWE Superstar and choose from numerous ways to play.”
“We are excited about the incredible potential for WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 as the franchise expands to six platforms,” said Nelo Lucich, vice president of interactive, JAKKS Pacific. “The game’s new Superstar Fighting Styles and Struggle Submission System, combined with year-over-year improvements, are certain to bring the sports entertainment video game experience to new heights with long-standing franchise fans and casual gamers alike.”
New features will inlude Superstar Fighting Styles, a new Struggle Submission System, as well as the inclusion of Extreme Championship Wrestling.
In regards to the Wii version, “We are tailoring the controls exclusively to the Nintendo Wii,” says creative manager Cory Ledesma. “We want you to feel like when we’re talking about ultimate control, you’re feeling ultimate control. We really want to tailor to the casual gamers for this product. We want players to pick it right up and play. We want to have it almost as easy as some of these Wii Sports titles.”
The game will be released on all platforms this fall.
