Report from RAW in Phoenix
I just got home from RAW at the United Airways Center out here in Phoenix , AZ. It was a great night. I was able to pull some strings and get me and my friend Section A, row 2 Ringside seats. I was on the same side as the Hard cameras, so as I watch RAW on my DVR, I am getting to see a lot of shots of the back of my head.
Arena was a legit sellout, only tarped off sections were the ones that were blocked by the Titantron.
Heat started right at 6pm with Haas and some newcomer with a Reggae gimmick. I missed his name because Justin Roberts (the ring announcer for heat) had a bad mic. The match was quick and nothing special, Reggae man won.
Next up was Shelton Benjamin against Phoenix resident Val Venis. Val took a beating and lost pretty quickly.
Out next was Local Indy wrestlers the Navajo Warrior & the Hawaiian Lion. They had no music and were not announced they just walked out while Val was selling the beating he just took from Shelton . Then the Highlanders music hit and they came out and had a good 10 minute match with the local boys. Of course the highlanders went over.
Then was a quick match between Eugene and Kenny. Kenny won, nothing special.
T he last match for HEAT was Cade and Murdoch vs. Cryme Tyme. Turned out that it was actually not a tag team match even though that was how it was announced. It Was Murdoch vs. JTG. It was fun match. They didn’t put on a wrestling clinic… but it was fun.
One thing that was AWESOME was that you wont see on TV, was when Melina ripped off Candice’s Towel she was completely topless which we could see briefly but undeniably. When I came home I went straight to that part on my DVR (Tivo) and they blacked out the screen for a almost two seconds – on TV you don’t see Melina rip off her towel, and when the picture comes back it is a wide shot with Candice covering herself. In the Arena on the Titantron we saw everything. Too bad it wasn’t Lillian, she is smoking hot in person. She is as hot if not hotter then any of the Divas.
My friend (Rusty) came with me and is not a wrestling fan, but he couldn’t turn down a free 2nd row ticket to see what the hype was about. He was blown away by the reaction when Stone Colds music hit. As you can imagine and saw a part of on TV, the place went crazy! I’m not ashamed to say that I marked out pretty good myself. It was fun to watch as Eric Bischoff, Mick Foley and Shane all came out when I knew it was just build up for Austin . Watching him come out on TV doesn’t do it justice just how loud and electric the whole building was, it was bananas!!! Definitely the highlight of the night.
AFTER RAW went off the Air, we were treated to a nice World Tag Team Championship match. Coach came out and said that all the “Tension” between Cena and Michaels had inspired him to make them compete against M-N-M in a title match. DX’s music hit and Shawn came right back out. Just as he was getting in the ring and him and Cena started the stare down. Mercury and Nitro rushed back in and there was a brawl. It was good long match and lots of fun. After that John posed in the ring while everyone left then he left last. Lights came up and it was over.
