ECW TV on Sci-Fi Live Report
February 13 in Seattle, Washington
Week 36 on Sci-Fi
We start the show with a recap of Lashley vs. Holly from last week with Lashley scoring a clean pin over Holly before the hairless one Snitsky debuted on ECW and manhandled Lashley.
After they did crowd shots, Lashley came out to start the show. Justin Roberts let us know that Lashley’s match would be contested under Extreme Rules. Hardcore Holly then limped out with bandages covering his right leg and right elbow.
1 — LASHLEY vs. HARDCORE HOLLY — non-title Extreme Rules match
Before the bell sounded, Holly and Lashley went nose-to-nose leading to an exchange of right hand blows. Holly bailed early, then Lashley gave chase and took forearm blows to the back. They continued to box it out before Lashley gave Holly a belly-to-belly suplex on the floor. Lashley then went under the ring and retrieved a table. Lashley set it up after decking Holly with a right hand blow. Lashley’s throwing those jabs with more conviction tonight. Holly then slammed Lashley to the floor and slid the table back under the ring and soaked up the boos. We’ll call Holly the anti-Team 3D. Lashley then countered a clothesline and took Holly over the guardrail to the floor. Back in the ring, Lashley landed more right hand blows to the face. Holly then countered a running powerslam and hot shot Lashley across the top rope. He followed by crotching Lashley into the ringpost as we cut to a break. Solid opening eight minutes of TV with good, physical competition.

Holly set up a chair in the ring out of the break. He then slammed Lashley throat-first across the edge of the chair. Holly followed by kicking the chair directly into Lashley’s face. Lashley fought out of a chinlock with right hand blows before taking an elbow smash to the face. Holly then set up the chair in between the top and middle turnbuckle and Lashley countered a whip to send Holly face-first into the chair.
[Q2]
Lashley made his comeback with an Exploder suplex before clumsily clotheslining Holly. Lashley then pumped up the crowd with a corner clothesline followed by a high vertical suplex. He then put Holly in back breaker position and fell forward with a modified torture rack slam. Lashley made a cover, but Holly kicked out just before three. He decided to go back under the ring and retrieve the table from under the ring. Lashley took too long setting up the table and Holly gave him a baseball slide kick to the face. Back in the ring, Holly went for the Alabama Slam on the chair, but Lashley slipped out and gave Holly a running powerslam on the chair to win.
WINNER: Lashley in 14:00. That was a great TV match with a hot crowd and good, physical action. Lashley looked like a different wrestler even though he worked a similar style that we’ve seen before. He was still clumsy at times, but much more fluid overall than we’ve seen the past several weeks working with the likes of Test and RVD. Lashley earned some credibility as a champion with that match.
[Commercial Break]
We saw a video package on Kane’s brother from another mother, Snitsky. Not that I want to give WWE ideas, but if they really wanted to have a tag team to capitalize on management’s big man fetish, they should put Kane and Snitsky together.
Out of the break, Extreme Expose was in the ring dancing to 50 Cent’s “Candy shop” song. Brooke, Kelly Kelly, and Leyla stripped down to lingerie before they were interrupted by Kevin Thorn and Ariel’s music. Marcus Cor Von then came out for a tag match. On the way to the ring, he walked right by a sign that clearly stated the obvious: “Monty Brown”.
2 — KEVIN THORN (w/Ariel) & MARCUS COR VON vs. TOMMY DREAMER & THE SANDMAN
Dreamer and Sandman came through the crowd and jumped into the ring to take an immediate beating. Cor Von took Sandman to the outside and slingshot him across the guardrail. Cor Von then slipped into the ring and gave Dreamer the Pounce into the bottom rope in a well-timed spot. Thorn then isolated Dreamer as we saw another instant replay of Dreamer’s head crashing into the bottom rope following the Pounce. Tazz and Styles debated whether it’s time for a new era in ECW. Tazz defended the New Breed, saying they could light a fire under the ECW Originals if nothing else.
[Q3]
Sandman took a hot tag as WSX came on the air. Tazz said Sandman’s seen better days, so maybe it’s better for the New Breed to take over. Sandman answered with a Heinekenrana from the top rope. Cor Von then tried to use a cane on Sandman, but Sandman countered into a Russian leg sweep. With the ref’s back turned, Thorn dropped Sandman with his walking stick after Ariel handed him the foreign object. Thorn then scored the pin for the win.
WINNERS: Thorn & Cor Von in 4:00. Decent action. Tazz’s commentary was solid here. He didn’t pander to the audience by unreasonably taking one side or the other, but presented good food-for-thought on both sides of the aisle.
We saw a video package on C.M. Punk with new footage of Punk practicing mixed martial arts in an outdoors setting.
[Commercial Break]
Lashley was cooling down in his locker room when Teddy Long walked in. He said Lashley really tore the house down earlier . Long did most of the talking and said that since he’s a guest on ECW tonight, Lashley should be his special guest on Smackdown. Lashley thought about it for a second, then said he’d be glad to appear.
3 — C.M. PUNK vs. MIKE KNOX
Good crowd reaction for Punk for the first time in a few weeks. Mike Knox then walked out and Styles and Tazz tried to recap five months worth of storyline. Loud “C-M-Punk” chant early on as they locked up. Knox caught Punk out of the corner with a front slam before landing a double foot kick to the face. Knox settled into a chinlock, then Punk came back with a knee to the face followed by an enziguri kick. Punk landed combination punches, slaps, and kicks before catching Knox in the corner with a charging knee. After hitting a bulldog, Punk looked to the crowd before going to the apron. He missed with a springboard dropkick, but recovered and hit the urinagi leading to the Anaconda Vice. Knox fought it for a few seconds before tapping out.
WINNER: Punk via submission in 3:00. Match could have meant more months ago before the storyline with Kelly Kelly dissolved. The crowd helped Punk stand out here.
After the match, Snitsky was in the ring out of nowhere. He waited for Punk to turn around, then he speared him into the corner and landed a knock-down clothesline. Snitsky circled the ring before pulling Knox up to his feet and landing a kick to the face. Snitsky sneered at the crowd, then he left the ring.

[Q4]
They showed members of the Seattle Sonics play-fighting ringside.
They did another video feature on Lashley. Lashley explained his t-shirt smelling ritual before he walks through the curtain for every match. He said it reminds him of the training he did to get to where he is. The second part was on Lashley jumping onto the apron for his ring entrance. He said he does that to show that he’s not just a muscular wrestler, but he’s also agile.
RVD and Sabu walked out for their main event match against Burke and Striker.
[Commercial Break]
4 — ROB VAN DAM & SABU vs. ELIJAH BURKE & MATT STRIKER
Burke and Striker were already in the ring out of the break. Sabu and Striker started things off with Striker slamming Sabu to the mat by his hair. Tazz said there’s legit heat backstage between the New Breed and Originals. Eh. Sabu came back with a slingshot leg drop from the apron on Striker for a nearfall. Burke then took a tag followed by RVD. Loud “R-V-D” chant before RVD locked up with Burke. RVD used his educated feet to send Burke into retreat mode in the corner. Burke surprised RVD with an elbow smash before tagging in Striker, who took a sidekick to the face. Sabu then tagged in and RVD slammed him onto Striker for a nearfall. From the apron, Burke caught Sabu with a clothesline, which led to the heels isolating Sabu for a few minutes.
[Q5]
At the top of the hour, Sabu fought to his feet out of a rest hold after we saw blood flowing from Sabu’s mouth. He escaped and tagged out to RVD, who ran over Burke with a clothesline before catching him with a standing sidekick. Striker then ran in and took a jaw-popping kick to the face. Burke took a windmill kick and RVD measured his prey before tagging out to Sabu. RVD hit Rolling Thunder on Burke, but Striker pulled Sabu off the apron to the floor. After RVD hit a splash onto the floor, Sabu awkwardly fell on top of Burke going for a springboard move. Burke then covered him for the win using the ropes for additional leverage.
WINNERS: Burke & Striker in 8:00. Crowd was into the action, and RVD looked a star here. The finish was messed up, which has been the case on more than one occasion with Sabu and Burke.
After the match, Cor Von, Thorn, and Ariel joined the winners outside the ring to celebrate. We then saw a replay of the botched spot where Burke tried to kick Sabu as he went for a springboard move, but Sabu fell on top of Burke. They closed with Sabu and RVD recovering to their feet in the ring to stare down the New Breed.
