CHRISTIAN CAGE REGAINS THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE – TO DEFEND AGAINST KURT ANGLE AT “AGAINST ALL ODDS”
In the main event of Sunday’s Pay-Per-View, Christian Cage regained the NWA World Heavyweight Title in an elimination bout, beating Sting with the help of Abyss. James Mitchell’s monster was eliminated first, leading to a showdown between Sting and Cage. However, Mitchell ordered Abyss to return to the ring, where he cost Sting his chance at the gold, leading to the crowning of the new World Champion in Cage! It was also announced that next month at February’s “Against All Odds” Pay-Per-View, Cage will defend the title against Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle!
KURT ANGLE BEATS SAMOA JOE IN THE 30 MINUTE IRONMAN
Also at Sunday’s Pay-Per-View, Kurt Angle outlasted “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe in an Ironman Match, winning 3-2 in the end. Joe had Angle trapped in the ankle lock and was looking to tie it up, but unfortunately the time expired. With the win, Angle earns a shot at the World Title against Christian Cage next month at “Against All Odds”.
CHRIS SABIN CLAIMS THE X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
Chris Sabin became a four-time X Division Champion on Sunday night, stealing the win over X pioneer Jerry Lynn to claim the gold! Sabin will walk into “iMPACT!” on Thursday night as the new titleholder. On the other hand, Christopher Daniels was clearly angry with losing the bout and immediately left the arena.
OTHER MAJOR NEWS ITEMS FROM THE PAY-PER-VIEW:
– Former World Champion Mr. Bob Backlund served as one of the judges for the finals of the Paparazzi Championship Series, which Alex Shelley won over Austin Starr.
– The Voodoo Kin Mafia also appeared on the Pay-Per-View, announcing they were ending their mission against “Dumb To The Xtreme” and handing over the war to the fans! After the announcement, TNA Knockout Christy Hemme appeared to voice her opinion on the role of women in wrestling, which didn’t sit well with Kip James! – The Latin American Xchange retained the NWA World Tag Team Title against Team 3D, thanks to the actions of Brother Runt backfiring on Team 3D! A rematch has already been announced for this Thursday night on “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV!
– On the preshow during the Lance Hoyt vs. Chase Stevens match, White Sox star AJ Pierzynski – along with Dale Torborg – were in the crowd heckling Hoyt. Following the bout, Hoyt got into a brawl with both Torborg and Pierzynski – leading to TNA security separating both sides! Check out “iMPACT!” on Thursday for an update on the situation!
