The muscle-ripped titans of tussle, the behemoths of back-flips and the divas of disaster will all be on the card at 5 p.m. Sunday when Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment’s Raw Superstars crew assumes control of the Four States Fairgrounds.
Reigning heavyweight champ of camp is Jon Cena, who survived a brutal “Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match” against Edge, grabbing the gold to win the match and his third WWE Championship.
Cena earned his “Dr. of Thuganomics” through a regimented weightlifting tear as an adolescent and later as a college football player and wrestler. Wearing his standard issue Reebok pumps and jean shorts, Cena has cleaned house on his way to being a “babyface” (good-guy) champion of the fans.
Cena’s bywords are “hustle, loyalty and respect,” a solid values base large enough to accommodate his legions of fans.
But for every babyface wrestler there’s a nemesis of characters dedicated to spoiling the good-guys’ message and rendering the sloganeer inert.
Other recognizable warriors of the squared-circle included on Sunday’s card are Jeff Hardy, who recently defeated Johnny Nitro for the Intercontinental Championship. The Edge and his tag-team partner Randy Orton wrested the World Tag Team Championship from old-timers Rick Flair and Rowdy Roddy Piper in November.
Texarkana area championship wrestling fans typically turn out in big numbers for the chance to see these athletic, flexible, larger-than-life characters wreak pain and discomfort on an opponent.
Many of the competitors have r/sum/s similar to Cena’s. A significant number of wrestling superstars come from college athletic programs and then seek training in pro wrestling schools.
However the wrestler makes it into the ring under the auspices of Vince McMahon and WWE, he or she better be durable and able to give and take a few good slams in and out of the ring.

Before the night is over, the sanctified soldiers of good will encounter the lowest kind of skullduggery and deception. And the loyal fans of Texarkana will be right there, protesting the referee’s blindness and dying to climb onto the mat.
The Fairgrounds Entertainment Center opens at 4 p.m. for the WWE Wrestling event. Showtime is 5 p.m. and tickets range from $20 to $40.
Get em’ while they’re hot.
