As iMPACT! starts, we follow Kurt Angle into Jim Cornette’s office. Here Cornette tells Angle that Samoa Joe will be barred from ringside during his match tonight, but in return, Kurt must be at ringside when Cornette needs him. Kurt is suspicious and asks why he would want to help. Cornette simply says “Because I have a say in who gets a shot at the NWA World Title.”
We go inside the arena as we notice a cage set up next to the ring, but everyone is unsure of its purpose. In our first contest, we see the Olympic Gold Medalist, Kurt Angle, square off against Serotoin’s Maverick Matt. Fellow Serotoin members, Johnny Devine and Kazarian tried to interfere, but were met with German Suplexes. Kurt then gave Matt the Olympic Slam and made him tap out to the Ankle Lock.
The cameras turn to outside the iMPACT! Zone, where Team 3D is in a battle tank. As Brother Devon hums “Glory Glory”, Brother Ray declares war on the Latin American X-Change. He says they are here tonight for Konnan and they will take him out, just as LAX did to Brother Runt.
During the commercial break Raven came to the ring, and used a kendo stick to punish Maverick Matt for losing to Kurt Angle.
Jeremy Borash is in the back with Samoa Joe. Joes says he was asked not to get involved in Kurt’s match tonight, and he obliged. He then said “I believe your match is over Kurt. There’s still 50 minutes of show left; so don’t turn your back during any of them.”
Our next match is a 6-man tag match, pitting “Cowboy” James Storm, Chris Sabin, and AJ Styles against Petey Williams, “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels, and “The War Machine’ Rhino. Mayhem ensues at the opening bell, but order is finally restored by referee Andrew Thomas. The match was back and forth till former tag partners AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels squared off, where AJ seemed to “tweak” his knee. AJ then reeled Daniels in for a roll up and the 3 count. Rhino realized what happened and chased after AJ through the crowd.
In the back, James Mitchell tells JB that for the first time in 18 months, he’s not sure where Abyss is. He doesn’t want to, but he’s been forced to give abyss an ultimatum – “If you don’t remain loyal to me, I will be forced to reveal your secret.”
In the back, Kevin Nash held the last of the PCS tournament – a Texas Hold’em Match. Alex Shelley won, leaving himself and Austin Starr tied at 20 points a piece. Nash said that there will be a 10 minute time limit match between the two at Final Resolution. The winner will be the PCS Champion. But, if there is not a winner after 10 minutes, the ruling goes to the judges. Yet, only Nash knows who the judges will be.
With still no answer about the cage at ringside, our attention turns to an interview done earlier with “Wildcat” Chris Harris. Harris stated that he at risk of losing his vision permanently and is unsure about a return to the ring. He is still in disbelief about what happened and he NEVER wanted America’s Most Wanted to end like that.
Quickly we cut to an arena shot where Team 3D has taken out Konnan. Brother Ray grabs the mic and tells LAX that they are in for a war; and not just with Team 3D, but the entire crowd.
As iMPACT! came back from commercial, JB is in the back waiting for Team 3D. Before they get there, Eric Young approaches and tells JB that his “friend” is taking meds and was feeling “tender” in his chest area; even asking Jeremy to feel. Before weirdness ensues, Team 3D interrupted. Brother Ray grabbed the mic once again and said “On Sunday at Final Resolution, Team 3D were going to come guns a blazing, bazookas firing, and tables a breaking – LAX is DEAD! – LAX es muerto!
Before the main event of Abyss against Tomko could start, Jim Cornette tells Christian Cage to get in the cage at ringside or he doesn’t get his title shot. Cornette then had Kurt Angle come out to help “escort” Cage into the cage. To the surprise of Jim Mitchell, Abyss entered the iMPACT! Zone from the opposite entrance ramp. Tomko and Abyss battled back and forth until cameras caught Samoa Joe attacking Angle from behind, leaving Christian to escape the cage and attack Abyss with a steel chair. The lights went out and Sting emerged in the ring to help Abyss with a baseball bat in hand. The two stood in the ring with their hands raised; that is until Abyss grabbed Sting and put him into the Shock Treatment. Mitchell looked appeased as he handed Abyss the NWA World Title and iMPACT! came to a close.
