Last night I got a wonderful email from a reader that seems to know me really well. Darryl emailed me the following, “Since I read your column regularly, I thought I would send a shout out. I can hear you screaming at the TV, this was one terrible show. No direction and definitely one of the worst segments I have ever witnessed, what were they thinking with those impersonators. It wasn’t funny. It was pathetic…the fans even shouted TNA…how out of touch and lost did RAW look tonight? Khali moves to RAW and was I the only one who didn’t understand with the big ogre was saying? Did he even annunciate any words? Man, bad RAW…very bad. Do you think I was out of touch here? I do not think so.” As I told Darryl he wrote exactly what I planned to say. Pathetic is the word. I don’t think I have ever been embarrassed to say I’m a wrestling fan, not even when they did the Katie Vick angle. But last night, I was extremely embarrassed by what Vince McMahon gave us. Okay in all fairness the injury to Hunter changed things a lot. That’s why I want to cut WWE some slack. I know they had to rewrite a lot. And now a very strong feud with DX and Rated RKO is in danger of coming to an end since DX is now in question. The loss of Hunter for a few months is going to be felt I believe by the majority of the fans.
I don’t even want to go through the program. The Rosie/Trump stuff was CRAP and God bless those fans for the TNA chants. I would love to believe that the TNA chants and the boring chants got to Vince. Maybe he wasn’t totally shaken by them but I really do hope that he realizes that WWE fans deserve better than what they got last night. The only highlight for me was the Edge, Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels segment. Edge and Orton looked like they had nothing left of them. And Shawn looked like he lost his best friend, and he did at least for a while. I was so happy to hear the Triple H chants from the St. Louis fans. I mean by the time this segment took place I was surprised that this group could even come alive, but they did when Shawn talked about Hunter. I also want to say I have become a John Cena fan, it’s something I never saw coming. And when he came out to open the show, I thought he was very good. But I’ll tell you when the Great Khali came out that was the beginning of the worst Raw that I have ever watched.
And the Great Khali is what I want to focus on. I want to be very honest with all of you. And I’m sure what I’m going to say won’t surprise you if you have read my columns for a while. I am a huge Triple H mark. He is the reason that I got into watching WWE more and more. And he’s the reason why I order Raw pay per views. It’s not that I don’t like Smackdown but Hunter has made Raw my first pick. I’m crazy about him and he has always given his ALL I don’t remember him ever giving a small part of himself. So when I was watching NYR, and saw him get hurt, 2001 hit me so fast it was like deja vu. I had a hard time not seeing him for 8 months back then and the thought of him being out for a long period of time again is killing me. And I don’t think its much different from Steve Austin or Rock fans that stopped watching once these guys left. After Hunter got hurt I lost all concentration on the ending of the DX/Rated RKO match, I totally missed Carlito and Masters, and I watched John Cena vs. Umaga but if you asked me about it, I really couldn’t tell you too much, although it seemed to come off well. So my point is I’m lost without Hunter, and because of the way I feel I need Raw to give me talent that will make me look forward to the shows each week. I was so glad that Shawn Michaels was on last night and I’m hoping that he continues to remain on TV. Edge and Orton together are worth watching and so is John Cena. But now Cena is in trouble because he is stuck with the Great Khali.
I’m reading that Khali was moved to Raw to fill the void with Hunter gone. That Raw needed star power. Khali star power? He’s replacing the hole that needs to be filled without Hunter? I wanted to scream yes scream when I read this. What the hell is Vince thinking? Oh I know this guy is big he’s a giant. Too bad this giant has very little wrestling skills. Listen as a bodyguard I can see Khali, but to say he’s there for star power just angers me. Why the hell doesn’t Vince bring in Monty Brown which my friend suggested last night, or do all he can to get Chris Jericho back? I say bring back Brock Lesnar, or I would love to see CM Punk come over to Raw. Any of these guys would fill that void left by Hunter, any one of them. I’m fed up and I’m concerned about the card for Wrestlemania. If Vince doesn’t look for true talent soon Wrestlemania is going to be a very sad pay per view to watch. As I said at the beginning the injury naturally caught everyone off guard, so I would love to believe that by next week the entire WWE crew can get their act together and totally improve on what they gave us last night.
As far as next week’s Raw? I cannot wait to see HBK vs. Rated RKO. I just hope that they aren’t going to do an injury angle with Shawn. Raw needs this man more than ever. I’m hoping that the news about Hunter’s surgery is good and that he will be back in 4-6 months. It’s going to be a very long time for me especially since DX has been so good and this feud with Edge and Orton has been so hot. I will leave you with one rumor that I heard on a hotline report today. Oh this will kill you. For Wrestlemania it is going to be The Great Khali vs. Hulk Hogan. I don’t think I need to add any comments to this rumor. I’m going to leave you with a request and I want to thank all of you for letting me vent today about Hunter. It feels good to be able to get my feelings out and I’m hoping that the fans that don’t like him will realize that he does add so much to the shows and they will start missing him. Here’s the request. Again thank you all for coming through when I post these requests. I was just wondering if anyone would happen to have a DVD recording of RAW from MONDAY 14TH AUGUST 2006. I have been searching for a recording of this Raw for ages and I would be so grateful if you could lend me a copy, if you have a recording.thebanksies@tiscali.co.uk
