Oh, I could go on and on about the things I don’t like about WWE.
The politics … Smackdown! … talented wrestlers being held back … untalented wrestlers (usually the ones with rippling muscles) getting too much stroke.
But I’ve gotta lay some love on WWE this week.
In what’s become a yearly offering of thanks, WWE sent its circus of stars to Iraq to perform for the troops.
Now I’m not really a war kinda guy, but I’ve gotta tell you, the tears welled up as the Goo Goo Dolls’beautiful Better Days played and we were left with images of the U.S. soldiers.
Vince McMahon can be blamed for plenty of things over the years … The Gobbleygooker, Triple H boinking a corpse and the XFL … but huge kudos to VKM for putting this together.
And a huge tip of the cap to WWE’s stable of wrestlers who provided a ray of sunshine for the troops.
McMahon has been vilified for being a vicious businessman, but in this case his heart is in the right place.
– Kevin Federline faces John Cena tomorrow night on RAW … wonder if K-Fed wrestles out of tune, too?
– Don’t you just wanna see John Cena give Jared an FU in those Subway commercials now airing on TV?
– Homicide (Nelson Erazo) is the new Ring of Honor champ. He also has a share of the TNA tag-team straps.
– Smackdown! GM Theodore Long announced that a series of sprint matches will begin next week. The wrestler that wins his match in the least amount of time will face Batista at The Royal Rumble.
– Samoa Joe has a knee injury — a severe sprain of his MCL. He’s trying to rehab and avoid surgery.
– Barry Windham is working as a producer (agent) for WWE.
– Konnan has serious kidney problems and may need a transplant.
