Continuing the tournament for the WWE Best in Show 2006, we have our next contest from the SmackDown side of things. In this next match, “The Deadman” The Undertaker will clash against “King” Booker T.
Amazingly enough, these two men never faced each other in singles competition or had a true rivalry during the entire 2006 year. Both credentials are impressive, but what is even closer than their experience is their personal lives. The Undertaker was born on March 24, 1965 in Houston, Texas. Booker T was born on March 1, 1965 in Houston, Texas. Rumor also has it that the two may have wrestled against each other very early in their careers.
Tale of the Tape:
THE UNDERTAKER
* WCW World Tag Team Championship (1 time) – with Kane
* WWE Championship (4 times) (Fourth and latest reign was as WWE Undisputed Champion)
* WWF Hardcore Championship (1 time)
* WWF World Tag Team Championship (6 times) – with Stone Cold Steve Austin (1), The Big Show (2), The Rock (1) and Kane (2)
BOOKER T
* World Heavyweight Championship (1 time)
* WWE Intercontinental Championship (1 time)
* WWE United States Championship (3 times)
* WWE Hardcore Championship (2 times)
* World Tag Team Championship (3 times) – with Test (1), Goldust (1), and Rob Van Dam (1)
* King of the Ring (2006)
* Sixteenth Triple Crown Champion
—and who could forget—
* WCW World Heavyweight Championship (5 times)
A very entertaining match setup, indeed. But when you look back at the year and see what the two mean accomplished- it honestly leaves a little to be desired, especially from such established veterans.
The Undertaker challenged and lost to Kurt Angle at No Way Out, lost to Khali, and Kennedy but however did manage to find a way to extend his WrestleMania win streak to 14, beating Mark Henry in a casket match. The Undertaker also did not have a pinfall victory in singles competition in 2006 until late October (Gregory Helms).
Booker T on the other hand won the United States Championship, World Heavyweight Title, King of the Ring Tournament, and also came out victorious after defending his World Title in a Triple Threat match at Cyber Sunday against both WWE Champ John Cena and then ECW Champ The Big Show.
BOTTOM LINE
All hail King Booker May The Undertaker Rest In Peace.
