Konnan’s hip replacement surgery was scheduled for today, down in Mexico. He will be hospitalized until Monday, based on expectations, and will be out of action for a while, which is they shot the vignette they did at the tapings.
Shelton Benjamin and Edge appeared on CNN’s Showbiz Tonight as a way to plug the Tribute to the Troops show, and share their thoughts on their experiences. They talked about a mortar landing some mere 300 yards away from the base while they were at Camp Victory, and even showed footage. The hostess had the nerve to point out that while wrestling is fake, and that’s no big shocker, what goes on in Iraq is damn real. That unnecessary comment certainly didn’t sit well with Benjamin and Edge, and also made for an uncomfortable moment on the program. When she proceeded to ask Edge how he felt about going, he added it’s his first time doing the show as the previous time he was at home injured with a broken neck from that “fake industry of ours.”
