Tonight is the big fall classic, the Survivor Series. I have to say the card looks pretty damn good. I like the fact that Smackdown has put two title matches up, and Raw is giving us one title match. The rest of the card is team vs. team. I have gotten a lot of predictions from so many of you so thank you and for those of you that haven’t sent them in yet just keep them coming. I feel somewhat good about my picks but there are a few matches that are harder to pick than others. So let me get right to my Survivor Series predictions.
DX (co-captains) CM Punk, Matt & Jeff Hardy vs. Rated RKO (co-captains), Johnny Nitro, Mike Knox & Gregory Helms
This is a tough one to pick. Now I noticed that every prediction that I received with the exception of two picked the DX team to win. But I’m not sure about that. I’m so back and forth when it comes to this match. What I do know is that I’m thrilled that we are going to see CM Punk and the Hardy’s in this one. Both teams are filled with strong talent and I see this match being one of the best of the show. Now as far what team leaves the winner? I still don’t know so I’m just flipping a coin and going with DX like so many of you, well forget the coin toss, I’ll explain what made me go with the DX Team, it’s coming up right now.
Winner: Team DX
John Cena (Captain), Kane, Lashley, Sabu & RVD vs. Big Show (Captain), Test, MVP, Finlay & Umaga
Okay I went with DX because I think Team Cena is going down. Cena gave Kenny the F’U Monday on Raw, so I think Big Show’s team will make a comeback and win. Hey with all the heels on Show’s team, I would find it almost impossible for them not to win especially if they cheat to win. I’m also looking forward to this match because I like the mix of talent from all three WWE shows on each team. I think this match has a lot of promise and I do see Team Big Show leaving as winners.
Winner: Team Big Show
Ric Flair (captain), Dusty Rhodes, Sgt. Slaughter & Ron Simmons vs. Kenny (captain), Johnny, Nicky & Mikey
While it will be nice to see the legends out there, I’m hoping that this match will be kept short. Too much time could put it on the boring side. I was originally going with Kenny’s team, but I quickly changed my mind because a loss for the Spirit Squad just brings them closer to splitting up. And if the Squad wins then all I can say is, DAMN!
Winners: Flair, Rhodes, Ron Simmons, and Sgt. Slaughter.
U.S. Champion Chris Benoit vs. Chavo Guerrero
Now this should be a hell of a match. I can’t wait to watch this one. I am going with Chris Benoit over Chavo for the win. Chavo in the last two weeks has taken out Benoit and taken him out hard. And with Benoit’s loss to Finlay Friday on Smackdown it’s only fair at least in my thinking that Chris gets a big win tonight and that this feud will continue which will make me very happy.
Winner: Chris Benoit
Batista vs. World Heavyweight Champion King Booker
I think this is the pay per view where Batista finally regains the World title from Booker T. Now before I go any further, I want to say that King Booker has been one hell of a champion, and he’s also done a super job caring Smackdown for the last several months. He’s been one guy on the Smackdown roster that has been consistently good week after week. But I really believe that tonight King Booker’s title reign will come to an end. Batista seems to have gotten his groove back and if that’s the case I think this match will come off very well. Booker as I said has been consistently strong in the ring and I don’t see why that should change tonight. And even though Queen Sharmell has helped her king win in just about every match Booker’s been in, I see Sharmell’s streak finally coming to an end.
Winner: Batista
Undertaker vs. Mr. Kennedy – First Blood Match
I have to give the win to Undertaker. He lost to Mr. Kennedy…Kennedy because of a DQ at No Mercy. I don’t believe Taker is going to lose another one. AND, this is a First Blood Match, a Taker specialty. Now I’m sure many of you have read that when Smackdown was in Europe the Undertaker broke a rib during one of the shows. But even though Taker might not be in the best shape, I doubt very much that he will take it easy in the match and along with Mr. Kennedy I think this could be turn out to be pretty good to watch.
Winner: Taker
Women’s Champion Lita vs. Mickie James
Back in September at Unforgiven I was so sure that Lita was going to beat the retiring Trish Stratus. But as you know Lita lost and Trish left the WWE as the women’s’ champion. But this time even though tonight will be Lita’s last WWE appearance, I have to go with Mickie James coming out the winner and new women’s champion. My thinking is that Trish a face, not only won her final match but she won in front of her home crowd, Toronto. Lita is going out as a heel, and since Trish retired with the title I just don’t see the same thing happening again. I would love to say I feel this match will be a good one, but Lita and Mickie have been having some pretty sloppy matches lately, so my expectations going into this one are low.
Winner: Mickie James
I think Survivor Series has the makings of being a terrific pay per view, I really do. Now before I go there are a few things I want to leave you with. They found a mass on Roddy Pipers spine and they are now waiting for biopsy results. I’m hoping that the biopsy proves to be benign and I wish him all the best. And since I did the predictions today I didn’t do a Smackdown column, but I wanted to say that it was another excellent show with so many strong matches. This is a must see show especially for the Chris Benoit/Finlay match. I’m telling you don’t want to miss it. Okay I will return Tuesday with my thoughts on the Survivor Series and Raw.
