Yippee! Hooray! TNA has gone prime time! It’s about time. This organization deserves to be right there in the mix for attention. And let’s face it, Vinnie Mac needed the competition. With Raw (his number one son), SmackDown! (the show that scould be good but he could care less about it), and ECW (man, that is hard to say – it is not even CLOSE to the ECW of old), Vince had a monopoly as far as television is concerned.
Then TNA moved to Spike TV. Problem was, they did not get a good time slot, and for that reason the show was kind of lost in the shuffle. Not for me, mind you, because I would use my DVR and watch it at a later time. And all along, TNA President Dixie Carter was telling us to be patient. She believed, or rather knew, that this show would move up the ladder, and she was right. Now we can enjoy TNA at 9:00 on Thursday evenings.
I am wondering however, if the equivalent of another WWE/WCW war is brewing on the horizon. With TNA housing many WWE superstars, it is a distinct possibility. The former Dudley Boyz, now known as Team 3-D, have made no secret of how they feel about their former organization. Bubba in particular has been quite vocal about his thoughts on his old fraternity.
Enter the Road Dogg and Billy Gunn of seasons past, now calling themselves the Voodoo Kin Mafia – VKM. Hmmm, just what is Vinnie Mac’s real name? Let me think, oh yeah, Vincent Kennedy McMahon – VKM. Yeah, I’m being sarcastic here, but what the hell? Listen, I know that often times when someone leaves one place of business for another there are not warm and fuzzy feelings for the now ex-employer. And McMahon can’t be thrilled with some of the talent that TNA has gotten of late.
It certainly had to be a big shot to his ego when Kurt Angle signed with the enemy. There are a spattering of rumors that Chris Jericho might end up there as well. This is a wild shot to be sure, but it could still be enough to raise the blood pressure a little. Sure, Jeff Hardy went back to the fold. And Monty Brown has swapped sides, very recently signing with WWE.
I’m not going to mention all the names here. First off, I’ll probably forget some that are very big, and I don’t want you all to come down on me about that. And we all know that comings and goings will occur regardless how well run or horribly a business is handled. Secondly, the list of names will be obsolete in a month anyway, so why bother? But I will enjoy watching to see if an actual WWE/TNA battle will ensue. That would be cool!
In closing and becoming serious for a moment, Eddie Guerrero past away one year ago this week. I know that he will not be there for his fans to watch and enjoy. I no longer expect to see him come out and work his ass off to entertain us. But that does not minimize the loss that I feel. When he first died I didn’t really get it – how could the loss of someone I had never met touch me as much as it did?
You know what? I still don’t get it. My cell phone rings with his entrance music. Why did I put it on there? I don’t know. I have lost many of those dear to me over the years. I have a memorial tattoo that signifies to me all those I miss. What initials are in the center of it? E.G. Why? I don’t know.
So Eddie, if you’re up there glancing down every now and then at someone you never knew, be certain that you made an impact. I do miss watching you, but I smile each time I think of you.
Be safe and God Bless,
Viva La Raza,
Barb.
