WWE Smackdown put The CW ahead of Fox on Friday night, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
The WB-UPN replacement averaged 4.6m viewers between 8pm and 10pm, well ahead of a two-hour Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy on Fox which clocked up around 3.5m viewers. The two networks tied in the adults 18-49 demographic, however, each averaging a 5% share.
ABC wasn’t far off those numbers in the 8pm hour, with Extreme Makeover only just beating The CW with 4.9m viewers and a 5% 18-49 share. Ghost Whisperer on CBS fared much better, averaging 10.2m viewers and a 10% 18-49 share; however, NBC’s Deal Or No Deal won the slot with nearly 11m viewers and a 10% 18-49 share.
At 9pm, NBC remained in the lead with 1 vs. 100, the night’s most-watched show with nearly 12m viewers and a 12% 18-49 share. Close To Home on CBS came second with 11m viewers and a 9% 18-49 share, while ABC again trailed with a distinctly limp showing from Men In Trees, which managed only 6.2m viewers and a 5% 18-49 share.
CBS took the lead at 10pm with Numb3rs averaging nearly 12m viewers and an 11% 18-49 share. NBC’s Law and Order placed second with 10m viewers and a 10% share in adults 18-49, while ABC finally picked up with 20/20’s 7.5m viewers and 8% 18-49 share.
