Heat dancer wins WWE Diva contest

Former Miami Heat dancer and current Miami resident Layla El took home $250,000 and a one-year contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Wednesday,Aug. 16 from the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City.
Of thousands of entrants, the eight semifinalists were judged on WWE television with individual elimination each week until the final three had a showdown live on the USA Network.
Earlier in the night, El had the crowd chanting her name by defeating fellow finalists Jen England and J.T. Tinney in a lingerie contest. After Tinney waseliminated, England scored the victory over El in an arm wrestling contest.
However, El received the most online votes and text messages by winning over fans with her combination of athletic ability and sex appeal. In the weeks leadingto the finals, El won the bikini boot camp and dance competitions.
El joins current TNA knockout Christy Hemme and Ashley Massaro as WWE Diva Search winners. WWE commentator Todd Grisham and Massaro served as hosts of the event.
A banner year for El with the Heat winning the NBA title and now this. She will soon begin working for WWE.
