The 8/14 go-home edition of RAW in Charlottesville, VA opens with Edge & Lita coming to the ring with JR and King talking about the “disturbing news”. Edge: “The champ is here.” John Cena is not. Edge talks about the stips of the match on Sunday, where he is fighting, and now he has a match tonight against Carlito. Due to all this, he needed a trip…to West Newbury, MA. Edge and Lita are invited in and give us a tour. Edge wipes his nose with a Larry Bird jersey. We see some photos of Cena. Edge puts some words in Cena’s father’s mouth. He stops and then tells us the real conversation, namely that Edge would beat Cena within an inch of his life at Summerslam. When the video resumes, Edge slaps Cena’s father down. Multiple replays are shown. Six or seven by my count. This is why Cena is at home. Edge goes back over the chapters of their story. The story will conclude with a happy ending for Edge. Commercial.
Edge and Lita are still in the ring upon return from the break as Mickie James makes her way to the ring.
Lita vs. Mickie James for the Women’s Championship
This would be Lita’s third championship if she won. They lock up and Lita gets a headlock, then hurracanrana. She stomps on Mickie in the corner. Mickie dodges a monkey flip and punches Lita. Mickie slides under a clothesline and hits a dropkick. She goes to the second rope, but Lita throws her off by her hair. Lita pulls some more hair. Mickie punches back until Lita hits a Side Russian Legsweep. That and some punches only gets a two. Mickie fights out of a backbreaker and hits a series of forearms. She dodges a charge and goes to the second rope. Lita tries to pull her off, but Mickie hits her own hurracanrana. Lita gets back in control but can’t hit her DDT. Mickie uses the ropes, but Edge pushes her feet off for a two. Lita gets a rollup with the ropes, but the ref sees it. A rollup with a bridge by Mickie gets two. Lita counters a DDT and grabs the belt while Edge distracts the red. Mickie gets nailed and Lita wins the belt.

Mick Foley in his Cactus Jack gear congratulates Lita on her victory. He says he has been upset with himself. Until now, he has been dealing from a position of strength. He gave into Flair, but comforts himself with the knowledge that he will destroy Flair on Sunday at Summerslam. He says in 10 years of WWE action, he has only been busted open 4 times. Flair will wallow in his blood Sunday, and invites Flair to meet him at ECW tomorrow night. Tonight, however, Foley is content to cheer on Melina and Nitro against Flair.
Umaga comes to the ring as replays are shown of his wins over both members of DX. He is back to taking on jobbers this week.

Umaga hits his trademark moves. An elevated Samoan Drop leads into the Whipsplash, and finally the Samoan Spike.

Johnny Nitro and Melina welcome us back from the break. And what a welcome! Ric Flair is out next. This is a non-title match.
Johnny Nitro vs. Ric Flair
The lock up to start and Nitro pushes Flair to the corner and hits some punches. Flair chops back. Flair blocks a kick and hits more chops, but Nitro hits an enziguri. Neckbreaker by Nitro gets a two count. Flair gets worked over with some right hands before Nitro locks on a brief headlock. Nitro kicks Flair in the corner. Ross: “Two words, six letters. I quit (sic).” Powerslam by Nitro, but he misses a corkscrew moonsault. Flair gets a chop block, but then Foley comes back. Flair gains the advantage, but Melina hits a low blow. Flair is thrown into the steps. Flair dodges an attempt by Foley to throw the steps on him. Foley punches him instead. A Foley Sucks chant breaks out.

Diva Search is up. Only Jen, Layla, Milena, and JT remain…for now! It is time for the next elimination. The next 3 move onto the finals in New York on Wednesday. Milena is eliminated. The three remaining wannabes will now take on three divas in a ‘Beat the Heat Waterfight’. I believe Frank Gotch and Georg Hackenschmidt once fought in this type of match at Comiskey Park. Torrie, Candice, and Victoria are together again! Poor JR is getting wet again. Much water is splashed about in the minute time limit. The fans deem the WWE Divas to be the winners in this heated contest. The winner of the Diva Search will be named Wednesday night.

DX is indeed heading to the ring. Triple H does the usual intro. HBK admits the last two weeks haven’t been easy. But the McMahons forget one thing about DX. They do what they want, when they want. A Vince Loves Cock shirt is whipped out. Before HHH can say anymore, Shane McMahon comes out, followed by Vince. Shane says more recently, DX has been known for getting dominated by the McMahons, as footage is shown. Vince brags about how he is the biggest name of all time in the business. DX only has each other, but Vince has unlimited resources and anyone he wants at his fingertips, be it a RAW superstar or crooked cops. At Summerslam, they will bring down the wrath of Satan on DX. HHH interrupts and gets all his and HBK’s nicknames in. At Summerslam, DX will kick McMahon ass. HHH challenges Vince to bring whoever he wants. They will even look the devil in his face and tell him to suck it. Commercial.
The Spirit Squad is in the ring. Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Eugene make their way to the ring.
‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan & Eugene vs. The Spirit Squad (Mikey & Kenny)
This is another non title match. Hacksaw works over Mikey and Kenny to start. Nicky pulls out Hacksaw and rams him into the apron. All 5 taunt Eugene and Duggan before the Highlanders come to ringside. In the ring, Kenny tags in. Kenny hits a series of punches before Mikey tags back in. Mikey gets clotheslined after a cartwheel. Eugene tags in and knocks down both men. Rock Bottom on Mikey, Airplane Spin on Kenny. Mikey and Eugene knock each other over. Hacksaw throws Kenny into two of the Spirit Squad members. Johnny hits the wheel kick on Eugene, but the Highlanders hit the Scot Drop on Mikey as Hacksaw distracts the ref. Eugene covers for three.

A video package informs us that Jeff Hardy will return to RAW next Monday. Armando Alejandro Estrada is in the McMahons’ office offering Umaga as a resource on Sunday. After a PPV rundown, Carlito and Trish are making out in the back.
Carlito w/ Trish Stratus vs. Edge w/ Lita
Yet another non title match! Carlito gets the advantage to start. A suplex only gets one. Edge takes over in the corner and hits some rights on Carlito. Carlito hits a kick to avoid a charge than hits a clothesline, followed by a chop and charges in the corner. Carlito whips Edge into the corner and Edge falls down from the impact. Scoop slam and leg drop by Carlito gets a two count. Edge hits some elbows to the back of Carlito’s head. Carlito counters a back body drop by landing on the ropes, then hits a springboard corkscrew splash to a standing Edge for a two as Lita helps Edge escape the pin. Commercial.
Back live, Edge is in control and he hits an elbow drop on Carlito’s back. During the commercial, Edge dropkicked Carlito as he was coming off the top rope. Edge gets a two count. Carlito fights out of a waistlock, but Edge pulls him back down with the tights. Carlito breaks out and goes to bounce off the ropes but Lita grabs his leg. Trish knocks Lita over. Carlito hits a knee lift and springboard reverse elbow for two. Carlito does a backflip off the ropes and hurracanrana for two. Edge takes over, but misses a spear. Edge throws Carlito into the turnbuckle and hits a spear, but John Cena comes out and goes right for Edge. Security tackles Cena as Edge leaves through the crowd. Edge is the winner by DQ.

Randy Orton comes out to confront Hogan, who has not officially showed up yet. Orton calls Hogan smart for not showing up. Another video package of Orton is shown. Randy calls Hulk Hogan his inspiration for becoming the Legend Killer. He didn’t understand why everyone would cheer Hogan, so he vowed to be the one to destroy Hulkamania forever. As soon as Orton claims it only takes one RKO, Hogan comes out, or rather the Hogan impersonator again. Faux-Hulk claims that Hulkamania is dead from the couch incident. Real American hits for a second time and the real Hulk Hogan comes out. A great sign of Hogan is shown in the crowd. Nice work! Hogan takes his time coming down to the ring. Orton tries to get him as he comes in the ring, but Hogan immediately Hulks up. A big boot knocks Orton out of the ring. Faux-Hogan slaps Hogan’s back and he gets some finger wags. Hogan seems to botch a big boot, but hits a right arm and then a scoop slam. He can only muster some elbow drops. Gotta save the leg drop for Sunday, brother! Hogan dumps the impersonator out of the ring. Hulk takes the mic and runs down Orton for insulting the Hulkamaniacs. Hulkamania will be at Summerslam, and it is a legend that can’t be killed. Whatcha gonna do, Orton, when the power of the millions of Hulkamaniacs runs wild on you? That’s the show!
