STEPHANIE McMahon and Paul (Triple H) Levesque are the proud parents of a baby girl.
Wrestling’s most talked about couple welcomed their first child — 8-lb. 7-oz., Aurora Rose Levesque — into the world Monday evening.
In true McMahon fashion, it was a perfectly timed TV moment — as if the WWE creative team had carefully planned and scheduled the birth for the best possible arrival.
The baby was born while Monday Night Raw was live on the air. This allowed WWE bosses to announce ‘it’s a girl’ on national TV and — although no footage of the birth was filmed — weave the real life scenario into the night’s storylines.
It’s the ongoing blurring of fantasy and reality which began when McMahon and Triple H first became an on-screen couple back in 1999, part of a TV storyline in which Triple H drugged the Billion Dollar Princess and married her in a Las Vegas drive-thru wedding chapel.
In keeping with the wrestling relationship rule of thumb — a man who forces himself on a woman will eventually have her fall in love with him — the two soon became an item, both on camera and behind the scenes.
Although their TV partnership ended in a bitter divorce, the pair got engaged and were married for real in 2003, creating the most influential pairing in wrestling history.
He was one of the top wrestlers in the business, famous for his political manoeuvring behind the scenes and his absolute dedication to becoming a bona fide ring legend.
She was the only daughter of wrestling kingpin Vince McMahon, a rising star in the WWE corporate hierarchy and the heiress to a billion-dollar empire.
Together, they became wrestling’s ultimate power couple, heading up the WWE Creative team.
The buzz increased in January when it was announced Stephanie was expecting but that was nothing compared to the wrestling media hype on Monday when WWE’s leading lady went into labour.
The phone call came during rehearsals for Raw, which led to Vince joining Triple H on a flight from the arena in Cleveland to the hospital in Greenwich, Conn., where Stephanie was delivering.
After Raw went live, the announce team gave regular updates on the situation, with Todd Grisham eventually passing on the news that a happy, healthy baby girl had been born.
Aurora Rose is the third grandchild for Vince. McMahon’s eldest son, Shane, has two children with former WWE announcer Marissa Mazolla.
