Tonight is the Great American Bash. I think Mark Henry started a trend when he got hurt. In case you didn’t know Bobby Lashley was pulled from tonight’s Triple Threat U.S. title match because he has a high enzyme liver count. You can read that at WWE.com. And then Khali was pulled due to some kind of liver disease. So along with a change in Batista’s match, you now have two more matches that are different than what they were supposed to be. Now I usually talk about Smackdown but because I just got in and it’s getting late I would rather go right to my Bash predictions. Let me say this, I did enjoy Smackdown and with the exception of some of the Diva’s joining the I Can’t Keep A Beat Club, you know the club, ECW’s Kelly is the president. I really thought we got some very good wrestling Friday night. Okay now let me get right to my predictions and here’s hoping I can smile about them on Tuesday along with my Raw thoughts.
Ashley vs. Jillian vs. Krystal vs. Michelle McCool in Four Way Bra and Panties Match
Listen I have to say I’m very happy with these four divas on Smackdown. While they may not be the wrestlers of the year I think finally Smackdown has given the fans something besides hot chicks, I think these women have the ability to wrestle. Well we know Jillian has it and the other three I think have come a long way. So while I’m not big on this type of match since it makes this more any eye candy segment than a wrestling one I’m sure these four will do a good job. I have no idea who is going to win but I’m thinking maybe Michelle, but I really have no idea why.
Winner: Michelle
The Pitbulls vs. Brian Kendrick and Paul London for the Tag Team Titles
Oh yeah this should be one hell of a match. Of course I’m hoping this match is not rushed since you have four top flyers and just all around good wrestlers in here. This is one match that I wish I could see. I’m counting on Kendrick and London to hang on to their titles and for this feud to continue right into Summer Slam.
Winners: Kendrick and London
Gregory Helms vs. A Surprise Opponent for the Cruiserweight Title
Okay the rumors have it that the opponent will be Super Crazy which makes sense to me since he beat Psicosis the other night on Smackdown, I think this would be the perfect twosome to put into this one and if it is Crazy you just know that it’s going to be a good match and a very hard worked match. No matter who Helms faces I don’t see him losing.
Winner: Gregory Helms
Fit Finlay vs. William Regal for the U.S. Title
Well I didn’t see Lashley getting the title back tonight anyway, so I don’t see William Regal beating Finlay. Now here’s the thing. There’s no doubt about what Finlay gives the fans. And Regal is always over when he gives the fans his heel humor. As good as both of these guys are in the ring, I will guarantee you that if there’s not enough humor the fans are going to be fairly quiet. That doesn’t mean the match will stink, because it won’t. But if you can hear a pin drop that will take away from what is going on in the ring. However the Little Bastard will show up at some point which should make for some fun stuff.
Winner: Finlay
Undertaker vs. Big Show in a Punjabi Prison Match
Okay now here’s the thing. WWE.com still has Khali for this match, however the main sites say NO, he is out, Big Show is in. So let me say this, Taker is wining now matter who he faces. I do feel the match will be better with Show in there than Khali and hopefully this well kept secret about this prison match will just add to things.
Winner: Undertaker
Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy…..Kennedy
Well I’m not sure how this match will come off. I had a feeling Kennedy would be Henry’s replacement since the Smackdown roster is so thin of top heels. I think this is such a big step for Kennedy and I also think that he’s ready for it. This is Batista’s first pay per view match in over 6 months and I really believe the majority of the fans will go crazy for him. I’m hoping this will be one very good match and that Mr. Kennedy….Kennedy will show everyone that he should be at the main event level. Batista will win and believe me I would have said that against Mark Henry as well.
Winner: Batista
Booker T with Sharmell vs. Rey Mysterio for the World Title
You know you have to hand it to Mysterio. For too many months WWE did nothing to make him look unbeatable. In fact they did all they could do to weaken him, but Rey has continued to be entertaining and along with Booker this should not only be a good wrestling match but also a match that is played out very well. Now I really believe that Rey is losing because Chavo his buddy will finally screw him out of a win. I just feel that Booker will win which will then set up a Booker/Batista feud and a title match at Summer Slam. You have to give it to Booker he along with Finlay and Henry as heels have really carried Smackdown, and I think maybe it’s now time for King Booker to become World Champion.
Winner: Booker T.
I won’t be ordering tonight’s show not because I think the show will be bad but because as pay per view prices go up ordering one pay per view every other month is more than enough. I hope all of you that watch the show enjoy it and feel it was worth the money and I hope many of you will let me know how it was. I’ll be back on Tuesday, oh wait I might not. Here’s the thing. My computer is super slow, and that’s an understatement. I’m using my son’s now, which is like night and day. Anyway we have someone that can fix it I just don’t know when, it’s possible it will be on Tuesday or later on in the week. So just in case I don’t have a column up you know it’s being repaired. If not then I’ll have a Raw column. Remember tomorrow night Hulk Hogan will be on, and there are rumors that Stephanie might be having the baby this weekend so I’m thinking that Hunter might be off, pre tape something, or the rumors are wrong and he’ll be on. But not matter what I can see the McMahon/DX feud building toward Summer Slam. And I’m sure John Cena will be looking for blood when it comes to Edge for interfering and costing Cena a win against Umaga last week. Raw should be a good one tomorrow night. I have two requests from readers. One has to do with a Raw tape the other is more about finding out if some CW viewers are losing Smackdown like he is. You will be able to email them both. Here’s from my first reader. I was wondering if anyone has last week’s Raw tape. Unfortunately I was unable to see it and I would be willing to pay for the video. You can email me at, joebono22@hotmail.com. And now from my second reader. I’d like if you could note this to some people and see if maybe any other stations with the merger have removed Smackdown from their lineups. I missed Batista’s return last Friday and I was so hoping it would only be a short term stoppage but who knows if CW will sign Smackdown. Signed a concerned fan. mellowyelloweddie@gmail.com.
