World Wrestling Entertainment recently kicked off its annual Summer Reading Slam, unveiling three new posters it will provide to teens and children who read books during the summer weeks leading to its SummerSlam pay-per-view on Sunday, Aug. 20.
Teens and children are encouraged to read a book and send in a short review to WWE to receive a WWE Summer Reading Slam Poster. Those who read and review up to three books can collect all three posters — ECW star Big Show, WWE Raw star Kane and WWE RAW Diva Maria reading their favorite books.
Anyone 18 or younger interested in participating in the program must fill out and mail the book review form found on getreal.wwe.com. Entries must be postmarked by Friday, Aug. 18 in order to receive the poster(s).
The company intends to publish the best reviews so others can learn about new book titles that might interest them for future reading.
The Get R.E.A.L. Summer Reading Slam, which started in the summer of 2001, has received praise from librarians, parents and children nationwide. Last year, more than 5,000 posters were distributed to schools, libraries and students across the country.
WWE has distributed more than 300,000 reading posters since the inception of its Get R.E.A.L. Read program.
