The 2006 edition of Unforgiven is set to take place on September 17, 2006 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. While the WWE has been running this venue many times over the years, it always garners a different reaction than most other arenas. Most notably, Summerslam 2004 emanated from the Air Canada Centre and saw many things such as Eugene getting booed and Randy Orton cheered which resulted in Jerry Lawler dubbing the place, “Bizarro World.” On the flip side, this marks the first WWE PPV from Canada since that PPV in August, 2004. The official poster for the event has been released and features an enraged John Cena with Unforgiven scratched in his chest and arm. To see this official poster, just click here.
While it is unknown at this point, John Cena will most likely challenge Edge for the WWE Championship in a re-match from Summerslam. The plans in WWE as it stands is for Edge to retain through Summerslam and have a re-match after Unforgiven with the winner from there unknown at this point, though many believe Edge as a long-term champion will do very well for the company though company thoughts like that have changed in an instant.
Triple H will begin his singles babyface run at Unforgiven most likely after a heel (Randy Orton possibly) takes out Shawn Michaels which would lead into Shawn Michaels being off WWE TV to get well-needed surgery on his knee. Nothing is set in stone, but Triple H is hoping to become the top babyface on RAW very soon and this PPV will be the beginning of that run with Triple H getting a clean win.
Everything else is unknown at this point for Unforgiven, but as always; the plans for Survivor Series and quite possibly Royal Rumble could start at the September PPV.
