Two-Hour Special Presentation Airs 8-10 p.m. ET/PT
NEW YORK July 11, 2006 World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) “Saturday Night’s Main Event” returns to NBC once again for a two-hour special presentation on Sat., July 15 from 8-10 p.m. ET/PT. The special will feature WWE Champion Edge, former Champion John Cena and an incredible roster of Superstars from Monday Night RAW, Friday Night SmackDown and ECW, as well as the return of WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan.
The two-hour extravaganza will feature:
WWE Championship Match -WWE Champion Edge will defend his Championship belt against former Champion John Cena.
Hulk Hogan Returns WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, who was part of the first-ever “Saturday Night’s Main Event” in 1985, will make a special appearance with his daughter Brooke.
2-on-5 Elimination Match – D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) will be taking on the entire Spirit Squad, consisting of five members.
6 Man Tag Team Match WWE SmackDown Superstar Batista returns to in-ring action as he teams up with World Champion Rey Mysterio and United States Champion Bobby Lashley to take on King Booker T, Mark Henry and Finlay.
Bull Riding Contest A Bull Riding Contest featuring RAW’s Torrie Wilson, Maria, Women’s Champion Mickie James, Candice and Victoria, SmackDown’s Jillian, Ashley, Kristal, Michelle McCool and ECW’s Kelly.
“Saturday Night’s Main Event” debuted on NBC in late night as a replacement for “Saturday Night Live” repeats in 1985, and originally ran through 1992. The groundbreaking program brought professional wrestling to broadcast television for the first time and set off two decades of success on broadcast and cable, including ratings titan “Monday Night RAW” on USA Network. The televised wrestling rumbles also launched a galaxy of multi-talented Superstars that crossed over from the ring to countless areas of American entertainment, such as “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Randy “Macho Man” Savage, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, The Honky Tonk Man and King Kong Bundy. The network special had its return on March 18 of this year.
