Raw wasn’t a total washout, there definitely were some highlights, but last week’s show was so much better. The Milwaukee crowd did a nice job especially considering there were a few dull moments. All in all a fair Raw but thankfully the main stars kept it from being a dud of a show.

WWE hit gold with the following group. We got another very strong opening with Edge, John Cena and Triple H last night. I still love that King of Kings song, and I think it has refreshed Hunter’s character. Edge was totally on his game last night, and I noticed John Cena seemed to be kind of going into maybe a heel mode. He didn’t seem all that giddy last night if you get my drift. I really like watching these three interact with each other. I could not stop laughing when Hunter looked at Lita with her boobs almost in full view and called Lita the booby prize for their main event match. What a perfect thing to say to her. I was happy that Cena slapped Hunter instead of falling for the old handshake routine like he did last week. I also liked watching Hunter on WWE.Unlimited and then on TV knocking the crap out of Rob Conway. Raw definitely started out very well. One thing I would like to add is that Lita is really starting to look like someone with absolutely no importance on the roster. When I think of what this woman used to mean to fans, and what she’s like now, I just can’t get over it. Not that her mic work is great, but for a while she was talking, now it seems like that’s been cut out kind of like the tops that she almost wears. Just watching her last night, makes me think that they could get someone from a diva contest to stand next to Edge. Lita needs to break lose from all of this and go back to playing someone with depth.
RVD vs. Rob Conway was nothing except a way to make Van Dam look unstoppable. But I’m glad that Shelton Benjamin came out to watch the match, at least I know that RVD and Benjamin are going to take each other on at Backlash. My God how cool is Benjamin with his new look? I couldn’t be happier that the whole mama thing worked for Shelton. I think he can really be a good heel he’s already showing that and as I said I’m looking forward to RVD vs. Benjamin at Backlash. Mickie James or should I call her Trish Stratus James again played he whacko role so well last night. First by challenging little sweet Marie to a match for the Women’s title and then with their match, but I will get to that in a little bit. Okay here’s where things started to come off so DUMB for me. Let the hype begin. Kane’s movie See No Evil is coming out next month and we saw the trailer for the film. Okay that was fine but it was after that trailer that things hit the toilet. All of a sudden Kane the former monster, the former terror of WWE, you know the pleasant partner of Big Show starts hearing voices. And the creepy voices are plugging the release date for the movie. My God up until last night Kane was so “normal.” I just could not believe that anyone with half a brain in the WWE would even come up with something like that. Entertaining? I would say not even close, just a poor excuse for plugging the date over and over again.
Now thankfully things did improve where Kane is concerned. The Spirit Squad’s Johnny and Nicky had a rematch with Big Show and Kane for the Tag Team titles. This was a good match for a couple of reasons. First it again let the fans see just what the Spirit Squad can do in the ring. And second finally Kane snapped and finally he not only went after the guys on the squad but he turned on Big Show. I’ve been waiting for that for along time. Now I don’t want to get my hopes up with Kane because this man has gone through heel and face characters so many times I lost track. I am hoping now that Kane goes to Smackdown for some new blood and yes I said this very thing last year but I would like to see Kane as a violent, sick SOB terrorizing most of the WWE roster like the good old days. I just hope the voices stop because it’s very hard to get into his character when the writing is so ridiculous.
The whole Vince and Shane McMahon church skit went on way too long. Yeah there were some funny spots but let’s face it, this was done to piss off many. I can only imagine how many called or emailed WWE today because they were offended by what he did, but as I said that’s what Vince likes, the more he pisses off fans the more the show is talked about. So let me move on and tell you very strongly what I thought about the Alejandro/Umaga segment. I HATED IT! I’m telling you right now I will be the first to say that I get turned off by characters immediately but then I warm up to them. I do not believe I will ever take to either of these guys, especially Umaga. This is a gimmick that is going to go nowhere and I think this rates right up there with my strong dislike for Heidenreich, trust me I never EVER took to him. So on to more pleasant things. I was glad to see Carlito again give it to Chris Masters. Ah Carlito one upped the man again by pretending to try to break the Master-Lock only to attack Masters with a chair when Chris turned his back on him. Carlito was a character that I took too as soon as he hit Smackdown and I just enjoy watching him so much, I find him very entertaining.
Mickie and Maria’s match was next. And Mickie with her Trish entrance and hair is still wowing me and so many of the fans. I have to say Maria puts a lot into the matches and I liked this lot. But what really did it for me was Trish coming out dressed like Mickie and hitting the ring imitating her. Trish had Mickie down so well that it was like watching her twin sister and hopefully they now will give Trish a lot more to do than wrestle which will keep their feud so worth watching. Trish has been in a slump and I blame the creative team. When Trish returned after a lengthy absence due to recuperating from a back injury she really got the shaft as far as mic work goes. She has played a rather laid back character and at times way to tolerant with Mickie so hopefully we will see some fire in her now. I’m looking forward to that.
Raw put on another hot main event. Edge vs. HHH and John Cena. I liked this from the start to finish. Last week Cena was on his own against Edge and Hunter and this week it was Edge against Cena and Triple H. Cena and Hunter didn’t make things easy for Edge at all. This was a match were Lita’s low cut top came into play. Like DX days there’s Lita enticing Hunter. Now you would think Triple H would be wise and not fall for it, but during the match you see him walking toward her smiling that naughty smile and gesturing her to open the top up and then from behind Edge knocked him out. Hey I guess Hunter is only human, because actually he didn’t need a close-up I think we all got that during the opening. Anyway I was very into this match and the ending wowed me. Just when you thought Cena was going to FU Edge, Hunter took over and pedigreed Edge. This didn’t sit well with Cena so he picked Hunter up and Hunter got the FU, and Edge then gets Cena’s STFU. Just a cool ending and as I said earlier so far thankfully this feud is playing out perfectly.
So really not a bad Raw just not a super Raw. It’s on to Smackdown and I’m sure all of you know that Randy Orton starting Wednesday will be serving at least a 60 day suspension for unbecoming behavior. But before that it’s Randy vs. Kurt Angle in a qualifying KOTR match. I guess it’s safe to say Kurt will be winning this one. With Randy gone for awhile there’s a rumor that Mr. Kennedy….Kennedy is going to be given a chance as a top heel when he’s cleared to come back. I don’t know if Dalip Singh the giant won anyone over, but you can bet we will see more of him this week. And who will face Rey with Orton out? Hopefully Smackdown will be a good show and things will just fall into place. Let me end with a request from reader and then a link to some of my WM pics.
