How about a little nostalgia? Since Gregory Helms dropped the Hurricane gimmick I thought I would do my WHAT’S UP WIT DAT? Column just so we don’t forget one of Helms best sayings as Hurricane Helms. Now I only did this once but trust me there are a few rumors going around out there that has me asking that famous question, WHAT’S UP WIT DAT? I figure I’ll keep this in an upbeat otherwise this could turn out to be a little to nasty. Here’s hoping this will come off fun the way that I attended it too. I wanted to do this on Friday but since one of the rumors has to do with Kurt Angle I thought it would be smart to wait until you all watched Smackdown before I gave you what I guess you could call a possible spoiler.
This is a two-parter and while the first half is going to make you wonder WHAT’S UP WIT DAT? The second part will probably have your heading spinning right off your body. Now this is a rumor a hot rumor but from all that is being said this will be happening on Smackdown. Orlando Jordan, the former Trinity from TNA and another wrestler, who might be C.M. Punk but that I’m not sure about but anyway Jordan, Trinity and this other wrestler will be involved in a Bisexual storyline. That’s right, according to what I’ve been reading Orlando Jordan will have to love interests, one will be Trinity, and the other one will be the new guy that they are bringing up. I would have to think with an angle like this all three involved stand to have a very short career in WWE. I mean remember the Billy/Chucky angle, it was pushed for while, and sure there were times I think many of us laughed, but before you could blink it was over, and we all know what happened to the participants, Chuck Palumbo never got any kind of push again in the WWE and was released, and Billy Gunn became Kip James in TNA, and is now a part of the James Gang, enough said about that.
So now you have another one of Vince’s whacky ideas and while I’m sure I’ll be entertained every now and then, I feel this will be dead before it gets started. But would you like to know who was rumored to play a transvestite on Smackdown? Again it’s a rumor but supposedly Melina was going to come out as a transvestite. WHAT’S UP WIT DAT? This was all going to happen during the sexual harassment angle between Melina and Batista. Not only would that have been the end of Melina, but think about it, what the hell would that storyline have done for the World Champion Batista? How stupid would Dave have looked to have sexual relations with Melina, only to find out after that she was really a man? Yeah this definitely deserves WHAT’S UP WIT DAT?
The next rumor is another killer, or is it? Vince McMahon, the same Vince McMahon that has done his best to humiliate Bret Hart for a few years now by rehashing the Montreal Screw job, wants Bret Hart to be the special referee for his match against Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 22. WHAT’S UP WIT DAT? Now this one makes me laugh so much. I’ll tell you why. First of all Bret Hart time and time again has made it very very clear about how much he despises Shawn Michaels and how he refuses to take any part in the WWE until Vince and Shawn apologize. Brett has said repeatedly that he would like to work with TNA. The only reason Hart did the DVD was to make sure that he wasn’t bashed like Ultimate Warrior was on his DVD. Vince does everything he can as often as he can to bring up the screw job, make light of it and really show nothing for Hart. Yet Vince is hoping he can get Bret to do this. While nothing is set in stone, I really find it hard to believe that Hart will agree to do this. But if he does agree to this can you imagine the buy-rate for WM22?
The last rumor could be considered as a Smackdown spoiler. So if you don’t want to know please get out now, hurry. Okay now if you are interested I am having a big problem with this one. Next month at No Way Out the rumor has the main event to be Kurt Angle vs. Undertaker, and then Wrestlemania 22 will be headlined by a rematch with Taker vs. Angle. I have to ask WHAT’S UP WIT DAT? Now my problem with this is….. Taker isn’t what I would exactly call a regular employee. He works on and off but mostly off. And now this guy is being given a title shot? See I don’t get it, of course I also don’t get the Mark Henry title shot at Royal Rumble either, but I’m focusing on Undertaker. I think it’s so wrong to make this a main event. You have guys that work their asses off week after week year after year, and it’s Taker that’s going to headline with Angle. I’m sure Taker isn’t winning but yet it’s still wrong as far as I’m concerned. Maybe if Undertaker was the wrestler he was years ago, that would make me feel differently, but he’s not and even though he works very hard in the ring most of the time, his matches leave a lot to be desired. Now this also seems to mean if this is true, that Kurt will turn heel again and give up the tweener role before No Way Out. This is the reason I didn’t do the column before Smackdown was on, I didn’t want to spoil Kurt’s semi face turn for any of you, but I’m a little surprised that Kurt is turning back to a heel so soon. I just hope if that’s the case, that Kurt will not be the heel that he just played on Raw. I would love him to play the heel that made him so enjoyable years ago.
So there you have it my WHAT’S UP WIT DAT? thoughts. I will be back to talk about the last Raw before the Royal Rumble. After that magnificent performance by Ric Flair in this TLC match with Edge, I’m hoping he’s okay and we will see a fairly healthy uninjured Flair Monday night. I’m looking forward to Mickie and Trish’s storyline moving forward with something big happening, and WWE.com has just posted the following matches. John Cena vs. Edge and each guy will pick their own tag team partner. Trish and Ashley will take on Candice and Victoria. Kane vs. Carlito, and a match that I’m looking forward too, Shawn Michaels vs. Shelton Benjamin, oh yeah this could be a show stealer. Raw should be a hot show to get us all ready for the Royal Rumble. And finally WWE released John Heidenreich. A few of you emailed me a little upset, but as many of you know while I hoped he would just be moved back to OVW, his release is something that I can handle, believe me I can.
