Joey Styles is said to be receiving a lot of flack backstage currently. It apparently took six hours to record the two-hour Raw special from Afghanistan as no one was pleased with what Styles was saying. Paul Heyman has claimed in the past that Styles has no instincts as an announcer and he produced him heavily when Styles won all those awards. Naturally, Styles says otherwise and because of the fall-out between the two in 2001, many did not believe Heyman at first. With that said, it is common knowledge that Styles’ MLW work was not that great. Styles did do a very good job at One Night Stand in June, but Heyman was producing him that night. However, with Taboo Tuesday, the thought was that he did very well with no one helping him. Many backstage feel his weaknesses have started to show on Raw over the past few weeks especially with being able to work smoothly with Coach, though no one has been able to do that. It should be noted that Coach wasn’t on the Afghanistan show, so it is really an odd story as of late with WWE keeping a close eye on him.
WWE is currently going through a major marketing change where they will not focus on WWE and the wrestlers any more, but rather the top stars as specific entities. The new idea is that they are missing people like Rock and Austin and they have to shift the focus from WWE to individual wrestlers to fix the problem.
Charlie Haas is expected to start soon and his name has been thrown a lot in creative lately.
