I definitely want to give you my predictions for New Years Revolution, and I will but I would also like to give you a few of my thoughts on some things that stuck out for me on Smackdown. I won’t go into everything that was on but as I said there are a few things I really want to touch on. And then it’s on to my picks for tomorrow night and wow with the exception of a few matches I would say this is another unpredictable pay per view, or at least for me it is. I’ll hit Smackdown first and then the predictions.
First without going into a lot of detail there were four matches that were just fantastic last night. And I’m talking about the main event with Batista and Rey Mysterio vs. MNM, then Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton, Kid Kash vs. former WWE talent Juvi. Yes for those of you who didn’t see it Juvi was released and I believe it’s still posted on WWE.com. And even though we saw another Matt Hardy loss against JBL which bugs the crap out of me their Falls Counts Anywhere match to open the show was excellent, a little too short, but excellent. As far as the Boogeyman putting worms down Jillian’s skirt, it just goes with the character; it didn’t upset me OR thrill me. But I’m still big on this guy and I just hope as I have said many times before that he can produce in the ring. These matches were just awesome and that’s why I really liked Smackdown. Also the début of the Shane Twins really caught me off guard. By that I mean I had no idea that these guys were HUGE, for some reason I had it in my mind that they were like cruiserweight size, so this was a big surprise for me, and I’m glad that they finally have made it on TV. Now I hope they are as good as their hype as been. It’s nice to have Mr. Kennedy…..Kennedy back since I’ve missed typing that. Seriously I enjoyed his stint as announcer; he did a nice job out there. I also thought Sharmell and Booker were much better this week than last week, she plays the perfect heel and Book on commentary was on his game. And even though I wouldn’t put Mark Henry back on TV, I had no problem with him coming out at the end and destroying the cage, Batista and Rey Mysterio, I was really into that ending.
What I wasn’t into was Melina. I said this last week and I was so hoping she would be her bitchy self last night, but again she played that obnoxious “rape” victim. They have in such a short time wrecked her character so badly that I can’t even look at her. In fact when she came out with Mark Henry and then started on the mic, I left the room. This is a woman that I have totally enjoyed ever week, but now it’s an effort to watch her with her sad face, it’s really very nauseating. Also say goodbye to Bobby Lashley’s big tough indestructible character. He lost that label with me when he opened up his mouth and talked. HOLY CRAP, it was like listening to some teenager talking about making first string on a high school sports team. My God talk about being disappointed, that’s an understatement. If they want to push this guy like some kind of monster, then they better keep him off the mic, and put him in major matches and let him showcase his wrestling, if he’s able too. These two items were the worst part of Smackdown, but thanks to those matches that I mentioned Smackdown was one very good show.
Now let me give you my 100 percent picks for New Years Revolution. Truthfully if I get half right I’ll be proud of myself. I’m noticing from the email that HBK and Angle seem to be the favorites. Keep your predictions coming and now let me quickly tell you who will leave as winner’s tomorrow night.
Ashley vs. Maria vs. Torrie vs. Victoria vs. Candice in a Bra and Panties Gauntlet Match.
Well we all know this will be the match of the night. Oh yeah I’m sure. You know the more I’m thinking about it I’m wondering why Chloe Torrie’s dog isn’t in this match, after all they put her profile up on Raw. There’s really nothing to say about this one, but it’s a toss up between Ashley and Candice as far as I’m concerned. I’m going with Candice Michelle. I think because she’s the HOT diva as of late and has a Playboy pictorial coming out she’s going to win this one.
Winner: Candice Michelle
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry The King Lawler
I think I would rather watch the Gauntlet match than this one. While I’m happy that Helms is getting this so called push and without a doubt I’m sure he’ll win, putting Lawler out there is just not someone that I care to watch wrestle. Again there’s not much that I can say only that I hope this is quick and painless.
Winner: Gregory Helms
Mickie James vs. Trish – Women’s Title
Okay these two have had some storyline. Now I don’t believe for one minute that this is going the Lesbian route, I think Mickie is just playing games with Trish. I say tomorrow night Ms. James is turning heel and is going to be anything but naïve and sweet. I really am looking forward to this match; anytime Trish wrestles it’s always a treat for me. I think these two if not rushed will do one nice job. My pick is Mickie. Trish has had this title for a year and I would rather see her chase that title and have James carry it for a while.
Winner: Mickie James
Intercontinental Championship – Edge vs. Ric Flair
WOOOOOOOOOO, this should be damn good. I’m glad that Edge is able to wrestle and with Lita out there it looks like Ric will have his work cut out for him. Flair has been verbally abused by Edge throughout the feud. And because of that not only has this feud had a nice build up but it’s time for Ric Flair to take Edge to school.
Winner: Ric Flair
Big Show vs.Triple H
I’m going to be very honest with you. This feud has had just about a perfect build up. I’ve enjoyed watching both men outdoing each other. I feel Big Show has really stepped up for this feud and Hunter has been extremely sharp and witty. It’s been a lot of fun, but I’m afraid that the match won’t come up to the build up. I cannot see this being much to watch. I’m hoping I’m wrong but with Show in there I don’t expect a hell of a match. Here’s hoping that it’s at least fun and entertaining. I’m going with Hunter because his win/loss record has been rather dismal in the last six months. He needs a win since his only main win was against Ric Flair at Survivor Series.
Winner: Triple H
WWE Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. Kane vs. Chris Masters vs. Carlito in an Elimination Chamber Match
This is where so many of you feel Kurt Angle or Shawn Michaels will win the title. Me? I still don’t see John Cena losing. I see him winning and I wish I could tell you in what order each guy will go out, but I’m not that bright. I still wish Chavo and Shelton Benjamin would have been in this one instead of Masters and Carlito. I think HBK and Kurt Angle will carry this one, but I do feel John Cena has been putting a lot more into his matches so I think we can expect him to kill himself to please the crowd. But the trend seems to be to boo this guy and boo him hard so I feel that’s going to continue. If the crowd is half as good as last week’s Raw crowd was, then this match might be the match of the night.
Winner: John Cena
As I said if I get half of these right I’ll be satisfied. I will be ordering the show, and I would love to be able to say in my Tuesday column that is was well worth the money. I will be back to talk about the pay per view and Raw on Tuesday, and I’m really hoping that after tomorrow night, The Kurt Angle, John Cena feud is OVER, DONE, FINISHED. Let me just end with this.
