Since The Survivor Series is tomorrow night I want to spend time on my predictions. So I won’t really have a Smackdown column for you this weekend. But I would like to touch on the show just a little before I give you my predictions. And as far as tomorrow’s pay per view goes I have to say I am looking forward to the show. I know many of you have told me that you will not be ordering the show because the card is weak, but for me there is enough to make me want to see what happens. Keep your picks coming in and I promise I will get to all of them as soon as I can. So let me talk some smack first and then on to my Survivor Series predictions.
I loved Smackdown last night. The Sheffield crowd was just as good as they were at Raw. And yes Raw was in Sheffield, England not Manchester as I wrote in Tuesday’s column. Okay back to Smackdown, I missed not seeing Eddie Guerrero so much, but the show was red hot as far as I’m concerned. It did a great job with the Raw vs. Smackdown feud, and I’m also excited about Theodore Long setting up the Best of Seven series with Chris Benoit vs. Booker T. Booker and Chris Benoit put on one superb opening match last night. It was my match of the night probably because Book and Benoit work so well together. This Best of Seven series I think will be something for most of us to really look forward too. I’m very happy that Batista is still the World Champion. I had no problem with the way the main event ended up. The match that was promised to us between Batista and Randy Orton never really took off, thanks to the great Raw invasion on Smackdown. I found last night’s ending with both rosters going at it much more exciting than what we saw on Monday night Raw, and that ending was good. Melina beating Christy was a no brainer, but again Hemme did a sweet job out there as did Melina. I was very impressed with the Matt Hardy vs. Mr. Kennedy….Kennedy match. This was Kennedy’s best performance so far and I wish that they would have let this go on longer. Another match that had the making of being really good was JBL and Rey Mysterio vs. Paul Burchill and William Regal. With Carlito and Masters sitting in the front row, I just kept waiting for something big to happen. And it did. Shawn Michaels hit the ring and superkicked JBL Again this all played out so well. Also I have to hand it to JBL I was hysterical watching his reaction to the Boogeyman that was hiding in the van. JBL didn’t utter a word just watching his face was GOLD. Okay stick a fork in Orlando Jordan, he’s done. I say that since he was again squashed by Bobby Lashley last night. And as far as LOD vs. The Dicks, you know the Hearth Throbs of Smackdown well it wasn’t much at all. I’ll bet you this, Chad and James Dick will be pushed for a while and then watch them slowly get de-pushed and it will be like they were never there. Another match that just was too short was Juvi vs. Nunzio for that famous Cruiserweight belt. I wish to God more emphasis was put on this division, but I have a feeling that isn’t going to happen. So as you can see I truly loved the show. It got me more ready for Survivor Series than Raw did. With that being said, let me quickly give you my picks for tomorrow’s show.
Women’s Championship – Trish vs. Melina
This was made out of the blue, however it gives Trish someone new to face and it lets the fans see just what Melina has in the ring. I’m looking forward to this one because I think both women will work extra hard out there. I will go with Trish to hang on; however I could see Melina winning if these two were to continue things. I don’t if the inter-promotional matches will continue after tomorrow night, so my thinking is Trish wins and between now and Raw’s New Years Resolution Mickie James might be in this title race.
Winner: Trish
Erich Bischoff vs. Theodore Long
What the hell can I say about this one? Well not much at all. I’m going with Theodore Long for the win, because of whom I believe will win the Raw/Smackdown feud.
Winner: Theodore Long
Raw vs. Smackdown
I have to go with Raw. Originally I was with Smackdown especially since Kane and Big Show seem to keep getting the last shot in. But, Smackdown beat Raw at Taboo Tuesday so I cannot believe Raw would take another loss. That’s why I’m going with Long, this way Smackdown can say Long beat Bischoff. I would love to tell you who the final two will be in there, but damn I’m not that good. Okay seriously I don’t know, but since Taker has been advertised to return tomorrow night, I’m thinking that during this match Taker comes out and goes after Orton which will take Randy out and keep Smackdown from winning. With Shawn Michaels, Mysterio and so many other top guys in here I can’t see this as coming off poorly at all. I’m really excited about this match.
Winners: Team Raw
Chris Benoit vs. Booker T – The Best of Seven Series
Come on with Benoit in here you know it’s going to be so worth watching. And Booker has been looking damn good in the ring. I see Benoit winning this one, and that’s even with Sharmell interfering. Like the Smackdown vs. Raw match I can’t wait to watch this. You know each time I see Benoit in the ring he gets better and better and puts himself out there more and more. Tomorrow night I have a feeling that this could be one of the top matches of the night.
Winner: Chris Benoit
Ric Flair vs. Triple H – Last Man Standing Match
Hunter lost at Taboo Tuesday to Ric Flair. He lost three pay per views in a row to Batista, so I would think tomorrow night it’s time for Hunter to come out the winner. Now these two guys stole the show at Taboo Tuesday. Can they do it again? I don’t know but I do know that this will again be bloody and I can see both Flair and Triple H really busting their asses out there to try to top what they did at the last pay per view.
Winner: Triple H
WWE Championship – John Cena vs. Kurt Angle
Okay here’s my take, even with Daivari as the ref, Angle isn’t going to win. I haven’t been very big on this feud, but I’m sure tomorrow night it’s going to be a good match. While I feel Kurt Angle should win this one, I don’t see it happening. I don’t see Vince ready to take the belt from John Cena. Let me say this if Angle wins I’m going to be totally shocked.
Winner: John Cena
So there you have it, all my winners, ha ha. I will be back with my thoughts on the show when I post my Raw thoughts, which might be on Wednesday. I’m having some dental work done on Tuesday so I might just wait until the following day. However if I can I will get something out on Tuesday. I have a few things to end with so for those of you that will be watching Survivor Series like me here’s hoping it will be a very good show. Okay I have a request from one of my readers. Does anyone know a great website to buy old WWE merchandise from [t-shirts, etc.]? WWE.com only really sells merchandise that is up to date, not some of the classic shirts from the Attitude era and beyond. And I’m also not keen on buying on eBay. I’m particularly interested in getting some of Eddie Guerrero’s old shirts. If anyone can help out that’d be great, to just e-mail me suggestions at THEDAGGABABY@AOL.COM. Now Dory Funk has come out with a new DVD, First Time Ever! The Funking Conservatory available on DVD! I hope you will check it out at http://wrestlingclassics.com/Merchant/agent.mv?AG=doryfunk&SC=PROD&S=wc&P=DF001-DVD.
