Holy cow, TNA has signed a major WWE superstar, One of my favorites has teased his fans again on his website, a former WWE wrestler wants back and already has planned out how he should be used, and if I didn’t know better I think he was just pulling our leg, and finally with Smackdown’s top guy injured what will happen to the title. Trust me there are plenty of rumors going around about that subject. As you can see there is a lot to talk about so let me get right to the first item.
TNA has officially signed Christian. Christian has been very busy. He trademarked the name he’ll be using, Christian Cage. This was the name he used before he came to WWE. Christian also trademarked the name Captain Charisma, so it seems like the Christian that we know and most of us love is back and back in a big way. So I guess since Christian quit WWE the 90 day waiting period doesn’t apply which is great for TNA because they will be bringing Christian in Sunday for the pay per view, Genesis. I feel this is really big for the TNA and its fans. Will I order the show? No, I won’t but it does mean that I will make it my business to watch Impact on a more regular basis.
I’m very happy for Christian. I feel that TNA will use him to his fullest. Christian Cage (I’m going to have to get used to that) will get to showcase his talent so much more than he was allowed to do in the WWE. I can just see Christian killing himself out there in X division matches. Fans that have never seen Christian in WWE are going to love what this guy does in the ring. And with his near perfect mic work they are going to get something that I feel TNA lacks strong mic work. This is a win win situation for the company, the fans and Christian. I have one prediction. I predict that Christian will be in the title race almost immediately and Jeff Jarrett will have to put himself right in there as the opponent. Will Christian win? Maybe, but in the long run it will be Jarrett that takes back the title and moves on.
So my second favorite wrestler Chris Jericho played a little joke on all of the fans that go to his site. He put up the TNA logo along with their Genesis logo. I can’t stop laughing, but seriously in an interview Jericho said that he likes to mess with the internet fans. Well that’s so Jericho he does have a great sense of humor and if you get a chance check out is interview it’s on most of the sites. A few things stuck out more than others. For instance, acting seems to be something Jericho really wants. He talks about a movie that he’s in, how he’s working regularly with VH-1 and that he’s taking acting lessons. I’m getting that wrestling is not even a thought; in fact he says he doesn’t miss it. But Chris really hit on a couple of things; one was when he talked about how proud he is of Christian for walking out. He said WWE is going to see that the talent is getting thinner and thinner with guys like Jericho, Christian and Austin gone. Chris mentioned how they are bringing up talent too soon and they aren’t ready. And finally he talked about how everything is so scripted, he feels that guys should just go out their and sink or swim on their own.
I think Chris is so right. Did any of you happen to see the Raw script that got out last week? Well in case you didn’t it has a bunch of different segments and every word is on that script, is every word that we heard watching the show. It shows that adlibbing just doesn’t seem to happen in the WWE. I would love to see Vince worry less about the creative team writing some pretty dull words and worry more about giving the fans good matches and storylines that mean something. The only thing I disagree with Jericho is putting Austin in with his name and Christian’s. Austin hasn’t added to the shows in years, his loss might be felt but not like Jericho’s or Christian’s. But again Jericho is right on when he says that Vince is bringing up talent way too soon and throwing them in main event spots. I sure agree with that. It seems to be a very pattern of Vince’s and not a good one of continuously pushing wrestlers that are green on TV week after week. It’s just my thinking but Vince has let a lot of top talent go in the past year and as I said keeps the wrestlers that really aren’t ready that really should still be in OVW.
As Jericho says never say never, but it sure seems like Chris is not interested in returning to wrestling. I hope that I’m way off about that because I think Raw misses him a lot and Smackdown could use him without a doubt. When he was asked about TNA he said he watches them a little bit more than WWE. And then when asked about going to TNA he did say he feels very loyal to Vince and that he’s the best boss he ever worked for and feels very loyal to him. So maybe one day WWE will get this guy back, at least I hope Jericho returns sooner than later.
I’ll keep this one short, Sid Vicious did an interview. The only part that stayed with me is the following. He is working very hard to get into shape so that he might be able to go back to WWE. Now here’s where I started laughing, and I’m sure this wasn’t meant to be funny. Sid has a scenario already for a return. He comes back, wins the title, now that’s funny right there, but his title reign will be a lengthy one, yes lengthy and when the time is right he’ll then lose it and then put the future of the company over. I’m sorry but first, I’m not sure WWE would take him, but if they did that would be fine. However I don’t see Vince giving Sid a title reign let a long a lengthy one. So I say this, if this is what’s going to keep Sid in shape then I say dream on Sid, dream on.
Okay finally I don’t know how many of you know about Batista having a serious back injury. It has been posted on WWE.com. Batista’s injury happened during the main event at Smackdown Tuesday night. Now I won’t tell you where it happened since I don’t want to spoil it for you. But Batista might have surgery which could keep him out for as long as three months. So now what do you do? You have to figure that they will strip him of the World title. So now who becomes champion? Well the rumors are running wild. A few say that with Chris Benoit’s contract coming to and end, WWE will now make sure to sign him. That’s because supposedly Benoit was going to get his contract downsized from what he’s been making and that made many think that Chris might leave just like Christian did. But as I said with Batista out for a while many feel this helps keep Benoit with WWE. Others are saying that Randy Orton will be next in line, and finally some feel that once Edge is able to get back in the ring Smackdown will get him back permanently.
I have no idea what is going to happen. When I read about the injury it upset me very much. I hate to see Batista out and out for awhile. I have been very happy with the way he’s been used especially since they put Eddie Guerrero with him. I really don’t know what I would do, but my only concern is that JBL will be put right back into this title race or even get the title back. JBL has come a long way and I enjoy him a lot but I don’t want him pushed back into that title race again. He had it long enough and I would hope that Benoit, Eddie or Randy would get a shot at holding the title. I’m hoping that no matter what Batista decides to do meaning if he has surgery or rehabs it without surgery he’ll return sooner than expected. I think he’s been a big part of the reason why Smackdown has been a lot better and again. So we’ll see him tomorrow night and then he’ll be out for awhile.
Well Smackdown is on tomorrow night and yeah I am looking forward to the show. I’ll be back over the weekend with my Smackdown thoughts. I quickly checked the spoilers but if you asked me what happened I really couldn’t tell you. So watching it tomorrow will be a surprise for me too. I’m hoping for a very upbeat and positive column this weekend, because those are my favorite columns to write.
