SHANE-LEGEND….THE LATEST
Clamour for a rematch between FWA British Heavyweight Champion Alex Shane and his number one contender Joe Legend is reaching fever pitch after their controversial battle of Blackpool on Sunday night.
After an incredible 25-minute matchup, ‘The Showstealer’ pinned the former WWE star after four big boots to the face. But then referee Mike Bishop reversed the decision, giving Joe the win by DQ because of an earlier incident when Shane hit Bishop in the face with the title belt.
In the aftermath of the match, Joe Legend has remained the number one contender to the FWA Title. FWA officials are listening to the fans and want Shane v Legend for the FWA Title to headline Gold Rush on Saturday, November 26. But there is a stumbling block.
For once, Alex Shane actually wants to defend his title at Enfield on Sunday, November 20 and has requested a championship defence for that show. Insiders believe this is because ‘The Lord of the Loophole’ knows he will fulfil his 30-day defence obligations by doing so, meaning he can then avoid putting the belt on the line against Joe at Gold Rush….just as he did last month at Hotwired.
Shane may also be aware that Joe Legend has commitments in his home of Germany on November 20, so won’t be able to take up the challenge on that date.
FWA matchmakers will meet between now and Enfield to decide what’s going to happen next. Stay tuned.
FIRST ENFIELD MATCHES SIGNED
LEROY DEFENDS HIS BELT
New All-England Champion Leroy Kincade will make his first title defence at the matinee show on Sunday November 20 when he takes on someone he knows very well indeed.
After Leroy won the belt at Hotwired, and then stood up for himself against his employer Alex Shane later on in the evening, two men in particular watched with disgust and immediately threw their hat in the ring to be the first challengers to Kincade.
Stixx and Martin Stone, FWA British Tag Team Champions, used to be colleagues of Leroy in Alex Shane Security. When ‘The Showstealer’ sold their contracts to ‘The Twisted Genius’ Dean Ayass in early 2005, they remained on good terms with Shane. And they have apparently seen Leroy’s behaviour at Hotwired as an act of disloyalty towards their former boss.
Dean Ayass has used his contractual wiles to get both Stixx and Stone ranked in the Top 5 contenders for the All-England Title and has campaigned long and hard for one of them to be Leroy’s first challenger. Just as we went to press, we learned that the FWA has agreed to this and so at Enfield, Leroy Kincade will defend his All-England belt against either Stixx or Stone…..but which one? That, as yet, has not been determined.
GYM WAR ON HOLD AS ACADEMY DUOS FIGHT!
This past weekend we saw ‘The Specialist’ Mark Sloan and his EntouRAGE from the FWA Academy gatecrash a match at Morecambe between Chris Egan and Dave Rayne – trainees of the rival FWA North school, Futureshock in Manchester. This led to a pair of heated battles between the representatives of the Academy and Futureshock over the weekend, in which honours were even.
It seems the motivation behind head Academy trainer Sloan and his goons’ attack on the Manchester trainees was a simmering jealousy. ‘The Specialist’, Ollie Burns, Tyrone Johnson and the other EntouRAGE members had watched on previous Morecambe shows as Futureshock trainees had gained opportunities they believe – as the longer-established training school – were rightfully theirs. This could be the start of something of a Gym War here in the FWA.
The Academy guys, who lost their rematch to Egan and Rayne at Blackpool, have returned to their home base of Portsmouth to lick their wounds and prepare for their show ‘Revenge On The EntouRAGE’ this Friday night. But once that is out of the way, the team of Mark Sloan and Ollie Burns will have more business to deal with.
Just signed for Enfield on Sunday November 20 is a tag team match pitting Sloan and Burns against the returning Aviv Maayan and Max Voltage. FWA officials were impressed with the efforts of Sloan and Burns this weekend, and ‘The Specialist’ has announced his intention that he and his protege will be a regular team in the FWA. Against two of Sloan’s own graduates from the Academy, Aviv Maayan and Max Voltage, he and Burns get the chance to prove their tag team prowess once again.
The FWA returns to Enfield on Sunday November 20 for a special matinee show – matches signed so far are as follows:
All-England Champion Leroy Kincade v Stixx or Martin Stone
Aviv Maayan and Max Voltage v ‘The Specialist’ Mark Sloan and Ollie Burns
The venue is Southbury Leisure Centre, Southbury Road, Enfield, Middlesex, EN1 11YP, Doors 4.30pm Bell Time: 5pm, Approx End: 7.30pm, Box Office: 07930 218 243, £15 Ringside ticket, £10 general admission; some tickets will be available through FWA On-Line Plus.
