FWA NEWS UPDATE 13/10/05
HOTWIRED LATEST – XAVIER INJURED
Jack Xavier yesterday suffered a serious neck injury in training for his No DQ match at Hotwired against Iceman.
Early reports say Xavier will miss up to six weeks of action and therefore he is out of Sunday’s show.
FWA officials told www.frontierwrestling.com that they are considering several replacement opponents for Iceman. They also informed us that whoever Iceman’s new opponent is, the bout will still be fought under no disqualification rules.
The announcement of Iceman’s new opponent is expected within the next 24 hours.
FWA HOTWIRED – PRE-ORDER THE DVD!
Fans can pre-order FWA Hotwired 2005 on DVD on the day of the show for £10, saving £2 off the standard price. The DVD will be available for pre-order after the show day for £12. Delivery will be within 28 days.
The same applies for FWA ‘Last Fight At The Prom’ at the Morecambe Dome on Saturday, October 22.
FWA HOTWIRED – LIVE COMMENTARY FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!
There will be a number of enhancements to the production values on FWA Hotwired which will become apparent to fans as they arrive at Broxbourne Civic Hall on Sunday.
One of these improvements– which we are allowed to reveal here on www.frontierwrestling.com – is that for the first time ever, the FWA commentary team will be announcing the show…as it happens.
Dann Read and Nick London will be in the Broxbourne Civic Hall ‘skybox’ calling the action, although we must make it clear that their commentary will not be audible inside the arena!
SHANE AND ANGEL, PARTNERS-IN-CRIME
Commissioner Flash Barker has made a decision about the ‘Last Fight At The Prom’ show in Morecambe on Saturday, October 22.
After reviewing a tape of the last two Morecambe shows, and having seen Alex Shane and Johnny Angel run roughshod over the Dome, Flash has decided there is only one way to keep these two massive egos in check.
So in the main event of ‘Last Night At The Prom’, Alex Shane and Johnny Angel have been forced to team together.
This decision will not sit well with ‘The Showstealer’ or the Yorkshire veteran. Both men have professed a deep dislike of each other, stemming back to when Angel hit Alex with a steel chair to help Stevie Knight win a lumberjack match on July 30 at Morecambe – this before, of course, Angel turned on his former protege Knight too.
Then on August 27 at Morecambe, ‘The Showstealer’ used a chair himself to batter a group of FSW trainees, putting a dampener on their debut match in the FWA, before calling Angel out. Later in the evening, Angel injured Aviv Maayan in their singles match by press slamming him over the top rope onto his ankle, then attacked both Shane and Andy Simmons, ruining Simmons’ chances of winning the FWA Title from Shane in that night’s main event.
This ruling has been made because Flash Barker is said to be fed up of other FWA wrestlers being drawn into the middle of the Shane-Angel war and wants to keep a tight rein on their behaviour on October 22.
As yet, no opponents have been announced for the Shane-Angel ‘nightmare’ team. We await the announcement of their names.
MORE MATCHES SIGNED FOR MORECAMBE
Also signed for ‘Last Fight At The Prom’ is a three-way Flyweight match pitting Spud v Jack Storm v Bubblegum.
Spud and Jack Storm know each other very well, having met in the first round of the FWA British Flyweight Title Tournament earlier this year. Bubblegum is something of an unknown quantity to both of them, but his high-flying style should complement both perfectly and lead to an exciting matchup where all three will have a burning desire to win.
And in a third match signed for Morecambe, Dr Dirk Feelgood will go one-on-one with Joey Hayes.
This is the latest instalment in what appears to be a growing dispute on northern turf between FWA tag teams The Young Doctors and The Manchester Massive. So far The Doctors are up 2-0, having won a tag match at Morecambe on August 27, then Dr Jason Allbetter got the….er…better of Declan O’Connor the following night at Blackpool. Will Dr Dirk make it three in a row or can Joey win one for the chavs?
The Massive will be pleased to know that ‘The Pukka One’ Darren Burridge is now not able to appear on the FWA’s northern mini-tour. The FWA is expected to announce the name of a replacement for Burridge who will appear on both the Morecambe and Blackpool shows, very shortly.
Tickets are now on sale for the next FWA Live in Morecambe show – ‘Last Fight At The Prom’ – on Saturday, October 22. They cost £16 for ringside, £10 for adults, £7.50 for children (under 16s) and £30 for a family ticket. The box office number is 01524 582803. Doors open at 7pm, bell time at 7.30pm. There is a licensed bar at The Dome.
Before the show proper there will be an FWA Press Conference hosted by the self-professed world’s number one wrestling journalist Greg ‘The Truth’ Lambert in the Waterfront Bar next to the Dome. This starts at 5pm and is open to all over 18s and over 14s accompanied by an adult. Admission is £4 on the door. This will include a meet-and-greet with some of the FWA’s stars including a special one-on-one interview with Joe Legend. Anyone attending the Press Conference will receive priority admission to the show. More details on this soon.
Also signed for this show……THE MORECAMBE RAFFLE! And it’s the final one of the year, too!
MATCHES SIGNED FOR BLACKPOOL
Signed for Blackpool is a one-on-one Flyweight fight pitting Jack Storm against Bubblegum, which should be a crowd pleaser of a match between the winner of the FWA’s inaugural Open Door Invitational and another of the hottest newcomers of 2005.
And The Manchester Massive and The Young Doctors will go at it again in Blackpool, this time in a tag team rematch from Morecambe on August 27.
More matches will be announced for the Blackpool event in the coming days.
The FWA will return to Blackpool’s Vida Centre on Sunday, October 23 – the night after the Morecambe Dome show. Ticket sales are being handled by regional promoters, Jampa Promotions. The box office numbers are 01253 350066/07840 348786.
Ticket prices are £16 for ringside, £10 for adults, £7.50 for children, £30 family. The show starts at 6.30pm.
There is a licensed bar at the Vida Centre and children are allowed into the bar. Fans are advised that no alcohol is allowed in the hall where the show will take place.
See the link http://www.vida.co.uk/locations/?sr=145 for a road map showing how to get to the venue and other venue information.
