As pointed out on this site, Mick Foley was advertised earlier today for this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown!. The latest word we’re getting is that Mick is indeed backstage at the SmackDown! tapings and will most likely end up on the show, although it is not a lock.
However, WWE.com has pulled Foley from their preview of SmackDown!, saying that the Ortons will now face Roddy Piper in a handicap match, while having reported earlier that it’ll be a tag match with Foley as Piper’s partner. The match will probably still go down, but perhaps they want to use Foley’s in-ring return as a surprise. I feel the smarter thing to do is to advertise it strongly, and help raise SmackDown!’s rating.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, Matt Hardy will be headed to SmackDown! pretty soon. I have no idea why the company failed to set the seeds last night on RAW, seeing as Teddy Long was in the building and was used on TV anyway. I guess that’ll be a surprise too.
