Raw Report for October 3, 2005
by Richard Trionfo
Tonight has been described as the ‘Homecoming’ for the WWE since they are returning to USA Network after five years on SpikeTV. We know that there will be a lot of people returning to the WWE for this show. Will there be any surprises, like the return of The Rock? What about the Ultimate Warrior? What about Stephanie McMahon? How will Triple H’s return be received by the crowd? What will happen when Ric Flair shows Triple H that he is the Intercontinental champion? Will we see the GameHammer return tonight? What will happen when Eric Bischoff has a chance to join Vince McMahon and Vince Russo on the list of world champions? How many commercial breaks will they take during the Iron Man match?
Before the show began on USA, we had some footage on WWE.com. Lillian Garcia came to the ring and she sang the Star Spangled Banner. Then it was time for the members of the announce team to come to the ring. Out first was Jim Ross; followed by Jerry Lawler; and bringing up the rear was Jonathan Coachman.
Roddy Piper was shown in the back while Lillian reminded the crowd that they will be live on the USA Network followed by what will happen as the show starts. The pre-show internet broadcast ends.
We have a video package talking about how Raw being live is a special feeling because you don’t know what will happen. We see footage from the first Raw at the Manhattan Center in New York. Vince said that they wanted to be in New York and close to Madison Square Garden. Vince said that he had some concerns about going live, but felt that nothing can go wrong if you went live. Shawn mentions that they were doing something new. Bobby Heenan said that it was something special. Vince said that the live audience told them that they were on to something. Vince said that the ‘Attitude’ era was more of what the WWE was. Chris Jericho said that it allowed them to push the envelope more. This was more of what society was all about. It was the superstars who made the Attitude era. Vince said that it was a fun time. Edge talked about how in two hours, you could see almost anything. They talk about how Raw is the cornerstone of the WWE.
We are live from Dallas, Texas and your announcers are Jim ‘Boomer Sooner’ Ross, Jonathan ‘Von Erich’ Coachman, and Jerry ‘USWA’ Lawler.

Roddy gives Mick 12,000 good reasons, as he starts a ‘Foley’ chant for the crowd. Before Mick can answer, Randy Orton comes to the ring with ‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton (with a neck brace). Mick tells them to cut Randy’s music and he says that it is never good to see Randy, especially under these reasons. This is Piper’s Pit and he tells Randy not to worry about the legend before him and worry about the legend who will take care of him at No Mercy. Randy says that he is out here because he is Randy Orton and he can get away with whatever he wants. Randy says that he is not here to talk to Mick. He wants to talk to Roddy Piper. Roddy starts to talk, but Randy tells him to shut up. If not for his father, Roddy would be nothing. There would be no Piper’s Pit. Randy says that he would see his father come home all black and blue with his arm in his cast. Roddy got to be in movies, be on MTV, and headline WrestleMania. Randy says that he was raised the right way, to be a legend killer. Randy pushes Piper, but Piper punches Orton. Mick and Bob separate Randy and Roddy.
