There are a few rumors and news items that I would like to cover today. By the way did you all know that in 4 days Raw’s Homecoming on USA network debuts? Not only am I’m hyped about this but I’m finding out that so many of you that have emailed me are just as excited as I am. One of the rumors I will talk about has to do with something that is supposed to take place on Raw Monday night. Also the latest quotes by a WWE wrestler turned actor and finally a very odd comment made by Vince during an interview last night.
Now I have been counting down the days and the weeks until my favorite Triple H returns. And the rumors for a while have been that it’s going to be a HHH vs. Ric Flair feud. So I am so ready for this. I was hoping it would be built up slowly and just turn out to be a really good feud. But today there is a new rumor going around. The rumor is that Monday night Hunter will turn on Ric Flair and the feud will start off immediately. I would love to think this is not going to happen. I don’t understand the thinking of rushing what could be a very hot angle. Wouldn’t it be better to keep Hunter as a tweener for awhile and be right there for Flair? And then as time goes by and when we least expect it Hunter brutally turns on his best friend?
That’s what I was counting on. I think it’s just a huge mistake to do it any other way. Many of you have emailed me saying you could see Carlito and Chris Masters join forces with Hunter. That’s what I kind of see happening during the Flair feud. See my idea was that it would be Ric Flair vs. Carlito for an IC title rematch at Taboo Tuesday. Hunter would be in Flair’s corner and that would be the match where Triple H turns on Flair costing Ric the title to Carlito. I could see up until then Hunter taking Carlito out and if necessary Masters too. I would have loved just watching Triple H just protecting his buddy Flair. Well I guess Monday night we will see just how things play out and if Hunter does go after Flair I hope it’s done in one hell of a great way.
The Rock seems to be done with wrestling. Now before I tell you what he said, I have never faulted the Rock for leaving and going Hollywood. I never saw him as a sell out. He had a chance to make it in movies and why shouldn’t it take that chance? So that has never been a problem with me. I also have no problem with Rock showing up once in a while. Although I have thought for a while that they should have Rock show up on “his” show Smackdown” not Raw. If I’m not mistaken Rock hasn’t appeared on any WWE programming since last June or July when he did a segment for the Diva contest. And after that it seems like the WWE forgot to have Rock sign a new contract, and it seemed like Rock was out of the WWE and rumors had him going to TNA. I think that might have put a little scare into Vince McMahon and after Wrestlemania Rock signed a new contract. However he still hasn’t been on TV. Supposedly he was asked to show up at Homecoming next Monday night but turned it down. I have to admit the fact that he turned down kind of surprised me. Well he did an interview for a movie website http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/southland4.php. Here are the questions and Rock’s response.
Question: A couple of months back you were quoted as saying you’d never wrestle again?
The Rock: Really? I never said that. It was a misquote. But Wrestlemania? No, probably not. Maybe an appearance. As far as for wrestling, I love that and I love that live crowd interaction. But I got into movies to grow professionally and become good at what I was doing. And it’s all about that for me.
Question: Would you have to bulk up again if you went back?
The Rock: No. Not at all. I’ve done everything that I’ve wanted to do in wrestling, with the help of…I’ve had the chance to work with a lot of good guys. And I’ve still got a lot of good relationships there. But for me the most important thing is moviemaking and becoming really good at what I do.
So this really tells me that his heart is really not into wrestling. Will he be at Wrestlemania? He says, “maybe an appearance.” Maybe I’m way off but an appearance once in awhile by Rock wouldn’t kill him. It was wrestling that got him to Hollywood and I think he owes his fans something every once in a while. I’m not angry about this, but I expected more from him. Maybe he plans to show up once in awhile and it just wasn’t covered in the interview, but a Rock appearance on either show every now and then would get the majority of fans going and just make for a fun segment.
Finally, last night I was watching bits and pieces of Linda and Vince McMahon on a cable show. It was odd that I happened to catch one thing that Vince said and that one thing totally shocked me. The host brought up the Arab character; of course he was talking about Hassan. He asked Vince something in the lines of why did that character fail. And instead of Vince saying that UPN had a problem with the character because of something we did. His reply was (and here’s where my mouth hung open.) He replied that the character failed because of the man that played the part. WHOA! So it wasn’t that UPN was disgusted about the terrorist angle that was shown on the night that England had a bombing. No it was because the man that played Hassan, Mark Copani failed with the character. My God what a blatant lie that was. The creative team was responsible for what that character did, yet not one negative word about them. See when you hear something so untrue like that you wonder just where Vince is coming from. I was so disappointed with him when he came up with that one.
Okay there you have it also; many of you have emailed me wondering what the hell happened to Kane. I was wondering that for a long time. Finally something was posted a few weeks ago. He had arthroscopic surgery on his knee and has been in rehab to get ready to comeback. Now I had read he would be back at Homecoming, but now I’ m not so sure about that. But he should be close to showing up on Raw very soon. So it’s on to Friday Night Smackdown. I read the spoilers and they read fairly well. So I’m looking forward to the show. I’ll be back either on Saturday or Sunday to give you my thoughts on Smackdown.
