Though it was a move praised by all, TNA’s move of signing Jushin Liger to Bound For Glory has thrown the proverbial wrench into the plans for the X Division. It was a sure thing that either Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, and AJ Styles was going to face Liger at Bound For Glory, and it is no doubt that whoever faces Liger will most likely do the job. Japenese stars do not come over for rare American apperances to simply job to local talent. It was the same when Liger worked with Ring of Honor in 2004 and he defeated Bryan Danielson in a singles match and Bryan Danielson and Low Ki in a tag match the next night.
Before Unbreakable, many people were claiming that Christopher Daniels was going to retain the title setting up Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels at Bound For Glory and leaving AJ Styles for Liger. When Styles won the belt, many backstage stated it was only a matter of time before they announced AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe and Jushin Liger vs. AJ Styles. TNA’s main plan for Samoa Joe was to push him hard in the X Division and the only real way to do that is to put the strap on him. With Samoa Joe now facing Liger at Bound For Glory, it is speculated that TNA has no real plans for the one they thought so highly of a month ago. After Bound For Glory, the winner of the Ultimate X match will face the winner of Styles-Daniels so it really shows that TNA has no plans for the man they put the better part of the summer building up.
As far as other matches scheduled for Bound For Glory, it is all but confirmed that the newly turned heel America’s Most Wanted will face the former Dudley Boyz who will be playing face. Many expect America’s Most Wanted to steal the tag titles from the Naturals in either the first or second show on Spike TV thus making such a dream match for the title.
Though Jarrett’s opponent in the main event has not been revealed, a lot of people are speculating that Monty Brown will be his opponent. Since the beginning of the year, TNA has known they have a big star in Monty Brown and all it takes is one turn to face and Brown will most likely become the champion. Though a Raven-Jarrett re-match is just as possible, a match with Brown could be what takes TNA into a new age which is exactly what TNA wants.
Gail Kim is also expected to work a match at Bound For Glory. Her opponent will not be Jackie Gayda as rumored though as TNA knows that Gayda’s wrestling skills are limited. TNA expects to start their women’s division on Bound For Glory and have been talking about bringing in Indy star Lexie Fyfe to defend the NWA World Women’s title against Gail Kim.
