I love when WWE gives us a pay per view where so many matches can go either way as far as a winner goes. I’ll tell you I have never seen so many different picks from so many of you and I still have a lot to check out. I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to tonight’s show. I guess maybe because really there isn’t one weak match on the card. Let me share my predictions with you, and remember if I get three right I’m ahead of what I did last month. That’s right I only got two right for Vengeance, I really need to make a nice rebound tonight. So here are my picks for tonight’s Summer Slam.
Kurt Angle vs. Eugene
I have two reasons why I can’t wait to see this one. My first reason is that Kurt Angle is always a joy to watch in the ring. My second reason is that Eugene can wrestle; I know he has it and I really believe with Kurt as his opponent we could see a really nice match. For me this is Kurt’s without a doubt. Not only will he win and get his gold medal back, but this win will put him in the title picture against John Cena after tonight.
Winner: Kurt Angle
Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero Ladder Match
Since this is a ladder match and you have two outstanding wrestlers taking part in this, I think it’s safe to say this is going to be one hell of match to watch. I can just see it already, Eddie and Rey doing everything possible to keep the fans glued to this. In all honestly I was going with Eddie from the start. I figured since he’s lost so many to Mysterio this has to be the night he wins. But when they added Dominick’s custody papers to this, my feelings changed. I cannot see Mysterio losing. This is one match where I feel it’s up for grabs but I have to go with Rey. Look for nothing but excitement during this baby.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
U.S. Champion Orlando Jordan vs. Chris Benoit
Now there is no way that Chris Benoit is going to lose another match to Jordan. Jordan’s win over Benoit at GAB was a one time thing. I didn’t see their match at GAB, but I do believe that Benoit will be on his game tonight, and while this won’t be the match of the night, it should come off well. I’m going with Benoit and I said this last month when I thought Chris would win, so I will say it again. I hope with Benoit as U.S. Champion that this title can be made to be as important as the World Title on Smackdown.
Winner: Chris Benoit
Matt Hardy vs. Edge
This is one where so many of you feel it will be a no contest. And I have to say I feel that’s exactly will happen. However since I picked Matt Hardy and shared this with so many of you, I’m going to stick with him. Okay so how real is this match going to be? If you believe like I do that the whole Matt/Lita/Edge triangle happened this wrestling match might have a lot more going for it than your typical wrestling moves. I would think that we will see a lot of stiff shots from both guys, and I can bet you that the fans that are there live will be really into this one.
So I’m going with Matt, but this is one match where anything can happen and probably will.
Winner: Matt Hardy
Undertaker vs. Randy Orton
This one puts a smile on my face, and I’ll tell you why. I am going with Taker. The reason? My thinking is that Randy beat Chris Benoit on Smackdown, and that was his victory. So tonight Taker again will take care of Randy. The reason I’m smiling is because I can’t tell you how many of my readers have questioned my logic for this one. Truthfully I’m not comfortable with my pick but what the hell I’m a risk taker. Seriously I could be way off, but I’m going with a Taker win, and then Randy beating him maybe next week on Smackdown.
Winner: Undertaker
World Heavyweight Champion Batista vs. JBL
This is another match where so many of us differ. Many of you have told me that you don’t care for Batista as champion and it’s time he drops the title. I disagree; I could not take another JBL title reign. We talk about Hunter being in the title picture all the time; I say JBL has been in it for so long I want this to come to an end tonight. I want to see someone new in that race and I believe whomever that new wrestler will be it will be Batista they will face. This is a No Holds Barred match, so basically it’s the same match that JBL did with Cena a few months ago. That came off as a success. This too should turn out okay, because it’s going to be bloody and anything goes, so it will not be a straight wrestling match. But Batista will remain the champion and hopefully his next opponent will be either Randy Orton or Eddie Guerrero.
Winner: Batista
WWE Champion John Cena vs. Jericho
Oh finally the only pick that I feel comfortable with. John Cena is beating Jericho. And it’s not because the rumors out there say after tonight Jericho is taking time off. I’m going with Cena because right now he’s Vince’s hot commodity with his CD, his TV appearances and a movie that will be coming out in a few months. There is no way Cena is leaving without the WWE title. I have no doubt that with Jericho in there this will be a good match. As many of you know Jericho is my second favorite wrestler, but this feud didn’t do what I thought it would do for Jericho. I feel that the wonderful creative team let Chris down and hopefully tonight in the ring Jericho will show the fans just how good he is.
Winner: John Cena
Hulk Hogan vs. Shawn Michaels
This is tonight’s main event. I have no problem with that, although with two major title matches you think one would have ended the show. But as I said I can live with Hogan and HBK closing things out. I have no idea what to expect from this, but I do feel that Shawn is going to carry this from start to finish. I also can just picture the Washington D.C. backing Hogan and Shawn just feeding off of that. I think with Shawn in there this will be a good match, and with a Hogan win the majority of fans will go home happy. Yeah I’m picking Hulk Hogan to win, and this is another case where so many of you are going with Shawn. I’m hoping that after tonight there is no rematch and we get a Hulk Hogan break.
Winner: Hulk Hogan
After looking at my picks and knowing that I’m right with Cena and Angle I wonder if I’m right with any of the others. But hey it’s all for fun and as I said I cannot wait to see the show. For all of you that are going there live, and I do know a few of you are going have a blast and enjoy. And for those that will be watching it on TV like me let’s hope that this years Summer Slam is a total success. I will have something on the show either tomorrow or for sure Tuesday with my Raw thoughts. And speaking of Raw, I would assume tomorrow night we will see new feuds start up quickly since Raw has the next pay per view in September. So Raw I would think would be a show not to miss.
