Show Details:
Booker T w/Sharmell vs. Joey Mercury w/Nitro, Melina & Jillian Hall
Nitro was told to leave by Nick Patrick, and Jillian was told to leave
seconds later, which brought a pop from the crowd. Mercury applied a rear
naked choke and the crowd started chanting for Booker. Book hit a side kick
followed by a flying forearm and clothesline. Booker then hit a side slam
for a two count. Booker did the Spinarooni which brought a big roar. He hit
the Book End and had the win but Melina distracted the referee. Mercury
rolled up Booker T and almost stole the win, but Booker kicked out. Booker T
hit Mercury with the Scissors Kick for the win.
Christian came out for the Peep Show and introduced Batista as his guest.
Christian said he didn’t have a match for SummerSlam. He called himself the
biggest draft pick in the history of Smackdown, right to Batista’s face.
Christian said he wouldn’t sit in the back at SummerSlam playing pocket pool
while Batista and JBL fight for the Title. Christian challenged Batista to a
match tonight to prove himself. What happened the last two times he fought
Batista? Batista used the dumb “are you talkin’ to me” line. It wasn’t even
funny the first time he used it in a promo. Who writes his stuff? Batista
said he would kick Christian’s ass again tonight. Christian was great as
always here.
Animal and Heidenreich beat two jobbers. This actually took a little longer
than it has in the past, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. When Christian
gave Booker T a beat down a few weeks ago, the only problem I had with it
was that it came and went way too fast, and it was an easy segment to
forget, which doesn’t help Christian since he lost to Booker at the Bash.
Are Heidenreich and Animal ever going to wrestle real opponents? MNM had to
face Rey and Eddie a number of times as champions. It’s weird that we’ll
look back on the history books, and Animal will have one more title reign
than Hawk.
They showed Rey and his wife arrive with Dominic. They aired a recap of the
angle last week. They made Eddie sound like Megatron again. This storyline
would work so much better if Dominic didn’t look just like Rey. Teddy Long
was on his phone speaking with Fat Joe. I believe him. Randy Orton
interrupted, asking who his opponent was tonight. Since Randy Orton likes to
make surprise appearances, Long said Orton would have to wait to find out
who his opponent is. Teddy said it would be one of the Undertaker’s
legendary opponents. The girls in attendance couldn’t wait for Orton.
Randy Orton vs. Kamala w/Kim Chee
Orton didn’t have his pyro on the way out. This match was a mess. Kamala got
in early offence but Orton hit the RKO to Kim Chee and Kamala. Before Orton
could make the pin, the lights went out and “RIP” appeared on the screen.
This scared Orton for some reason. Randy Orton is a potentially important
character, but right now, he’s a nothing character.
A social worker approached Eddie backstage, saying she would oversee
tonight’s events to make sure whatever happens is in the best interest of
Dominic. Someone should send her a tape. Guerrero began to get worried and
decided to show her around. Eddie brought out the social worker and small
“Eddie sucks” chants started. Guerrero asked Rey and company to come out,
which they did. The social worker started taking notes when the crowd
chanted “Eddie sucks” again. People in the audience were screaming at Eddie
in hatred. I hope he doesn’t get stabbed. The basic story here was Rey
trying to convince Eddie that Guerrero can’t beat him. Mysterio said Eddie
has overcome all the addictions and obstacles in life, and even became WWE
Champion, but he could never beat Rey Mysterio. Guerrero hesitated at first,
knowing what Rey was trying to do. Mysterio challenged Guerrero to a match
at SummerSlam for custody of Dominic, and Eddie accepted. The social worker
stepped in, saying Dominic isn’t fit to stay with either of these two until
they put their differences aside, so she took Dominic to a foster home,
which had Rey and Angie in tears.
Super Crazy & Psicosis w/The Juice vs. Scotty 2 Hotty & William Regal
They showed Regal and Scotty talking strategy before the match. Scotty
didn’t seem to care that Regal tossed Scotty into the fire a few weeks back
when the Mexicools attacked them. The Mexicools teamed up on Scotty and took
control. The crowd was dead. Scotty went to make a tag but Regal stepped
down and left with the evil smirk on his face. Psicosis pinned Scotty after
a top rope leg drop.
Jillian Hall did an interview backstage, and Booker and Sharmell to a mix
tag match against Melina and Mercury. Couldn’t Melina have done this promo
instead? They showed Cena’s new music video.
Chris Benoit vs. Simon Dean
Simon Dean did a promo on Benoit, calling him the Flabby Wolverine. I can’t
wait for Simon Dean to bump into Nova backstage. In true Benoit fashion, he
attacked Simon as soon as he hit the ring, instead of using words. Benoit
was giving Simon a severe beat down. Simon got in a small amount of offence
before Benoit gave him three Germans and the Crossface for the win. I could
watch Benoit do this all day.
Christian vs. Batista
When they came back from commercial, Christian was already in the ring.
Christian tried to overpower Batista but Batista didn’t budge, and tossed
Christian across the ring. Batista gave Christian a back body drop over the
top rope to the outside. Back in the ring, Christian poked Batista in the
eye and threw him shoulder first into the steel post. Christian followed
with a missile dropkick from the top rope. He went to the top rope again but
Batista went up to the middle rope and gave Christian another back body
drop. Batista followed with shoulder thrusts in the corner and a side slam.
He gave Christian the spine buster and readied for the Batista Bomb, but JBL
attacked Batista. Batista tossed JBL out of the ring and threw him across
the announce table. When Batista walked over to the table, JBL popped out
and nailed Batista in the head with a steel chair. JBL hit Batista
repeatedly with the chair in the ring and stood over Batista to end the
show.
