RODDY PIPER
-Piper states that he wasn’t surprised when Vince called him up again this year to return for the Hall of Fame.
-He feels camaraderie with McMahon dating back to “WrestleMania 1” when McMahon put so much stock in Piper for that huge show.
-Never signed a contract with the WWE, just went on a handshake deal
-Says the incentive for coming back was not for the money as he has enough, he feels he is too young to retire and is doing it simply because he loves the business
-Hopes he can open some doors for his daughter, who wants to get into show business
-Lovranski compares his return as part of “The Sickness” that Piper discusses in his book. Piper notes how he has talked with Bret Hart and Chris Benoit about that fact and how it’s so hard to adapt to public life when you’re part of such a bizarre industry. In the wrestling industry you only feel comfortable with those within the industry because they are the only ones that truly understand who you are.
-Piper discusses the art of the promo. He relates it to a quote that Ella Fitzgerald once said saying “If you give them a good beginning and a good end, they will forgive a lot in between”. He states for his promo’s he follows the rhythm of his heart and when his hits a certain beat he states the name of the city, and the time. Basically saying that the people take notice of two things in the promo, the city and the time of the show and to make sure those two facts get over
-Piper continues to talk about criticisms from people about his “rambling” on certain promos in TNA. He states that he didn’t want people to understand him and to change his style of promo to throw people off.
D-VON DUDLEY
-D-Von discusses the “One Night Stand” PPV and was thrilled with it. He felt Heyman was a “rebel with a cause” to try and destroy WCW and eventually become the #2 company in North America.
-He credits Heyman with making The Dudley’s and giving them their first shot and also stated that a check never bounced with D-Von.
-D-Von clarifies that the Dudley’s were never released and that their contract is not going to be renewed, but until August 27th they are still employees of the WWE and could still be used if the WWE chose to use them before that date.
-He has the utmost respect for Vince McMahon but not Johnny Ace. He feels they could have worked out a deal if Jim Ross was still the V.P of Talent Relations. He felt Ace dropped the ball and painted a bad picture of the Dudley’s to Vince.
-He stated that The Dudley’s and Jim Ross didn’t always see eye to eye but he was always honest and said what he thought to your face and didn’t have to like you to do business with you. He felt Ace let his feelings get in the way of completing a deal.
-He says that Ace can take his signing bonus from the WWE and shove it up his ass.
-He stated they were about to take the WWE’s offer and a meeting was setup with Vince and then out of the blue the meeting is cancelled and felt Johnny Ace was responsible for that.
-D-Von was called late at night while he was putting his kids to bed to say that their contracts would not be renewed.
-Felt that Bubba is very strong willed in negotiations and that may have rubbed Johnny Ace the wrong way.
-He said they are talking to a number of organizations including All Japan, Hustle and TNA.
