Thanks to readers and fans for sending in the following news and notes.
–Lance Storm has updated his website, with a very, very strong commentary titled “Steroids”. It is an extremely good read from the man with “the best body this side of a positive piss test,” or however that line went that he used back in ECW. It can be read at StormWrestling.com. (Thanks to Rob Peterson)
–In the Washington D.C. area, Smackdown wasn’t on last night due to the Washington Nationals baseball game. Smackdown will be shown from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Sunday evening. (Thanks to Charles R.)
–I found another Easter Egg on the Rise & Fall of ECW DVD:
Easter Egg: Promos from Bill Alfonso, the Pitbulls, Taz, Stevie Richards, Mick Foley, and more.
How to Find: On disc 1, go to page 3 of the chapters and highlight Promos. Press left two times and the promos will begin to play. (Thanks to Martin Ferguson)
–*Spoiler Warning* – Once again, WWE shows that they’re thinking with their back end. During SmackDown, I saw an ad for Raw coming to Memphis on Friday, September 2. Obviously a house show, but what struck me were the two matches announced on the commercial. The first was that John Cena will defend the WWE Championship against Kurt Angle. Once again, they’re telegraphing the SummerSlam results.
The second one caught me even more by surprise. Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels in a Legend vs. Legend Match. The part that was interesting about that is that during the leap-up to SummerSlam, they have made a point of NOT calling HBK a Legend, but calling him an Icon where Hogan is the Legend of the match. I have to think they’re telegraphing again, where Michaels will win the label “Legend.”
As we reported earlier this week, WWE has already announced that Cena vs. Angle for the WWE Title will headline September’s Unforgiven PPV. *End Spoiler Warning* (Thanks to Jeff Rademaker)
