Tell me I didn’t see one of the worst Raw’s ever. Let me put it this way
Raw was so bad that I’m going to just going to tell you briefly about the three things I found good and I’m off the subject. Then I will talk about the trades that were made last week and a new theory of mine. We all know how accurate I am about my theories. Onto my quick thoughts on a very bad show.
Shawn Michaels heel turn was the best thing that could have happened to his character and it was a great way to end that atrocious show last night. I never saw Shawn’s heel turn coming, he totally caught me off guard and I am thrilled by it. The opening match with Kane and Big Show vs. Edge and Snitzky was good. In fact I liked it a lot and the crowd seemed to love it as well. That poor Sacramento crowd sitting through almost two hours of hell. At least this match started things off on the right foot. I was pleased with Carlito’s Cabana. I found bringing Hogan in for that to hype his show was a good move. So there you go that’s it for me. The rest of the show killed me. Let me say this, I didn’t mind Hogan last week with Shawn and Cena in the main event. I found it worked well.
But I did not need that man in last night’s main event. I do not want to see him on a weekly basis. I have to tell you when that main event hit, I could have cared less. Mostly because I lost so much interest in Raw because of how bad it was, but having Hogan back in there and again getting the win over Carlito just pissed me off. And when HBK and Hogan started doing the same pose down crap as last week I totally was turned off. Thank God Shawn gave Hogan that Sweet Chin Music because that erased all the crap that went on earlier. The only downside about HBK’s turn is the possibility of a HBK vs. Hogan match at Summerslam. That is the last thing I need to see. The less of Hogan in the ring the better, so a HBK vs. Hogan match in August would not please me at all. Raw was garbage and I would say this is the fastest Raw column I have ever done.
So why not discuss the trades that took place last week. You know something is wrong when Raw makes nothing out of them and tells you to go to WWE.com to check things out. All in all I think the trades stink. Well maybe that’s putting it too strong, but I think Raw got some really bad names moved to their shows. Let’s look. Smackdown got William Regal, Stevie Richards, Simon Dean, Sylvan Grenier, and Candice Michelle. I think Smackdown got the better end of this deal. Each one of these wrestlers can bring something to the show. However you look at who Raw got and I can’t believe well wait. Here are the wrestlers that came to Raw. Danny Basham, Kenzo Suzuki with Hiroko, Chavo, Renee Dupree, and Mark Jindrak. So what’s wrong with this picture? I can tell you what’s wrong, Kenzo Suzuki, and Renee Dupree. Maybe more Renee than Kenzo. I am livid that they keep this man and even angrier that they continue to use the same moronic gimmick with the same miserable theme song. When he came out last night against Val Venis, you could hear a pin drop. You know La Resistance died a long time ago, yet Vince keeps throwing that crap out there and the majority of the fans have had it.
So does that mean on Smackdown Grenier will continue to come out with his flag and that music? Oh my God it’s unbelievable how something that is so bad just keeps going and going. It’s like the Energizer Bunny, yet the Bunny is at least cute. Okay anyway, I am turned off by Dupree and feel trading him back to Raw was a ridiculous move. Then you have Chavo. Smackdown just lost one of their best cruiserweights. Now when I saw him coming to Raw I was happy because he’s so good in the ring. But last night when they brought him out and gave us his new gimmick I was in shock. This “Kerwin White” is going to kill him. It’s going to be dead before it even gets started. Yeah that’s right take a super wrester and make a nothing out of him. Then you have Kenzo Suzuki. We all know his wrestling is sub-par. The guy has a nice humor but in the ring forget it. So now he’s still around and on Raw, another trade I don’t get. What about breaking up the Bashams. Instead of keeping them as a tag team, and we all know how week the tag team situation is on both shows, Vince breaks them up, and I would guess that Danny Basham as a singles wrestler will turn out to be anything but successful. Maybe I’m jumping the gun on that one, but why break them up? Let’s see then there’s Mark Jindrak who I thought had a good thing going a couple of years ago when he was teamed up with Garrison Cade. They broke them up and Jindrak quickly died on Smackdown. Now Raw has him and I don’t see how he will add to that show. So as you can see for me the trades at least the Raw traded are a joke. Why wasn’t Charlie Haas traded and given that push he deserves? Oh I know the answer, because he’s got talent, yeah that’s it; he’s not in the Dupree/Kenzo category. As you can see this really has angered me.
Okay now it’s time for me to lighten up, HHH has been off for two weeks straight. Now from what I have read he is going to be of indefinitely. There’s not a set date for his return. The major rumor is that he’s going to have Cena has his next feud. But they are now saying for Summerslam it will be Edge vs. John Cena. But I’m going in another direction. When Shawn turned heel last night it hit me that there’s an awful lot of top heels on Raw now. Kurt Angle, HHH, Jericho and now HBK. So I immediately thought what about Hunter coming back as a face along with Ric Flair. And it’s a HHH vs. Angle feud. It’s time for a major change for Hunter, and believe me I could definitely see this face turn. And after Angle what about Jericho vs. HHH? See I’m eating this up. So I’m going with a face turn for Hunter. He can always turn heel later and face Cena. Or better yet, Cena can be the one that turns heel and gets his character back to where it should be.
So there you have it. I apologize for being such a downer today, but there is no excuse for what they gave us last night. I read the Smackdown spoilers and I have to say just reading them came off better than Raw. So hopefully Thursday night will make up for last night. I’ll be back on Friday with what I hope will be the total opposite of this column, a PLEASANT column.
