A number of office employees were let go by WWE last week. Several were from the licensing end. The word going around at the TV tapings was that there will be several wrestlers released in the near future. All of this is done as a business move, coming off the move of WWE from SpikeTV to the USA Network, in October. As one can conclude, this won’t help the morale in the back.
Although it will probably be WWE’s best-selling DVD this year, the ECW One Night Stand home video almost didn’t make it to shelves on time. WWE rushed the release date, which put Sony (they handle all of WWE’s distributions) in plenty of stress, as they had to rush to produce all the copies and ship them on time from Mexico. Word has it that everything had to be shipped overnight so the DVD can be on the shelves on its pushed release date – June 28. The reason WWE changed the date in the first place was to capitalize on the momentum of the ECW PPV, as well as deal with bootlegging better.
