Who would have imagined that Vengeance would rate right up there with One Night Stand? I know I didn’t. I could not wait until tomorrow to talk about last night’s show because like One Night Stand I’m still hyped and I’ve re-watched two matches over again. It was an awesome show and one I would definitely recommend if you missed it. Now I’m torn, do I make the whole column about the show or about me getting all my predictions right? Didn’t I look like a genius with my perfect score? Now that I got that in it’s on to a fabulous pay per view. Wait before I forget I want to say right now that the Las Vegas crowd was ON FIRE, I was so impressed with this group. You know so many times WWE has a pay per view and the crowd is dead, not last night, I can’t tell you how this crowd pleased the hell out of me.
Okay now for the opening match starting with Heat. You knew the crowd was going to be alive just by the reaction to the Rosey/Hurricane match against those dancing guys, The Heart Throbs. I liked this match; it definitely set the tone for what was to come. I did not expect a loss by the tag team champions however I didn’t expect such a good and fun match so Heat got things off to a great start. It was Carlito vs. Shelton Benjamin that kicked Vengeance off. I will tell you right now I liked this match a lot. I found it much better than last Monday’s match and Carlito looked like he put much more into this one. Benjamin was outstanding, and I’m hoping things continue with these two guys. Also as much as I like Jonathan Coachman and I do, I could have done without him being in the middle of JR and Jerry the King Lawler. I don’t like when there’s three guys announcing. I really don’t think it was necessary at all. The next match turned out pretty good.
I had no problem with the women’s match. It came off just fine. Christy tries very hard and I feel she came through. Let’s face it sure watching Victoria vs. Trish would probably what most fans would want to see but Christy and Victoria did fine. I really haven nothing negative to say about it I liked it I really did. John Cena and Todd Grisham had a little thing going on backstage. While I found it good, it was John Cena talking to Grisham again just showed me how much Cena reminds me of the Rock. And I’m not saying that’s good or bad but Cena at least for me his taking over where Rock left off. Or at least seems to be. But that I will get into next Sunday. So on with the show. The match that kind of bored me was Kane vs. Edge. I’ll tell you why I say this. I’m under the impression that Kane is now BACK as he said last week. So my definition of back where Kane is concerned is that he’s going to go berserk in the ring, you know like really do some damage.
But that wasn’t the case; this was a match and nothing more. Kane was the Kane he’s been, and truthfully it took almost until the end for this one to pick up. I loved the We Want Matt, chants and I’ll be honest I thought maybe he would show up, and it probably would have made all of this so much better. When Kane had his hands on Lita’s throat at that moment he should have either given her a tombstone or at least a choke-slam. You knew when Lita’s head was in the chair that she would be saved. So at least give her something to remember Kane by. I’ll tell you when Snitzky came out to interfere panic hit me. I thought dear God no not another Snitzky/Kane feud. So this for me was one the weakest parts of the show. But again it didn’t hurt things; it wasn’t like I sat there and wondered why the hell I ordered this. No because the show was working well even after this match. Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle put on a match very similar to their match at Wrestlemania. I liked the Wrestlemania one better, but don’t get me wrong this was still right up there. Kurt and Shawn did what we thought they would, they killed themselves out there and with Shawn’s win they each are tied one to one. What do you want to bet we see a rematch at Summer-slam for their final encounter? Believe me I’m not ready to see Angle and HBK end; I hope tonight things just build up even more. Another weak part for me was yes the Viscera/Lillian segment. It was nothing more than filler, but it went nowhere. Sure they brought back the Godfather, and yeah they managed to put an end to the Vis/Lillian angle but I think they could have waited until Raw for that. Thankfully this didn’t go on too long. Okay my number 2 match of the night has to go to the triple threat match.
Jericho and Christian were amazing and they did I think what most of us thought they would do, they made Cena look damn good in the ring. This was even better than I though it would be. And I loved it that it wasn’t rushed and we got to see Christian and Jericho show why they are two of WWE’s best. Cena’s win was no surprised to me; I mean come on this guy can do no wrong with the majority of the fans. I do like it when Cena goes to his chain gang and interacts with them. It’s a very nice touch and as I said this was one hell of a match. But the match of the night for me was the Hell In A Cell Match. Talk about a surprise? As you know I didn’t think this would amount to anything other than good, but Hunter and Batista were amazing. The match lasted almost 30 minutes and not once did I feel it was going on to long. I thought Batista looked like true champion. I noticed he showed a lot more expression into this one. He showed a lot of depth in the way he sold, and he just seemed to be at home in a match like this.
Hunter totally impressed me. I always expect him to give his all, but in this match he took a lot of abuse and he just made Batista look so worthy of the title. Batista beating Hunter for the third time in a row at pay per view shows the faith Vince has in this man. Hunter like Batista sold so well. Both of these guys complimented each other so well and they both looked like they have been working with each other for years. Not only do they get nothing but props from me I have to add that JR called one of the most exciting matches of all time. He was so outstanding that he never lost any enthusiasm. JR as far as I’m concerned played just as much as role as Hunter and Batista. Everything just clicked and I mean everything.
Well as I said I just wanted to share my excitement with you. As I said if you didn’t see the show, order it you won’t be sorry. I’m so lucky that I taped it because I know I will be re-watching the whole thing often. Okay so tonight’s Raw, and remember Raw gets two Smackdown picks, and Smackdown gets to Raw picks. For those of you that had trouble with my de-coding game about tonight’s Raw draft pick, I apologize but my husband came up with it because I didn’t want to put the person’s name under the column so those that didn’t want to know would see it. Feel free to email me and I will let you know who it is. Okay don’t forget to check out Bang TV and some of the new talent Dory is working with. http://www.dory-funk.com/bang-tv.html
