What? No pay per view tonight, no predictions to come up with? Well trust me I have a few things to talk about today, so it’s probably a good thing that WWE’s next pay per view, ECW’s One Night Stand is two weeks away. Okay today I want to give you my latest take on Lita/Matt and Edge, but first I would like to talk about a tragedy that happened that last night during an Indy’s show in Taunton, Massachusetts. This is a horrible item that I really want to mention.
Right before I went to bed early this morning, I checked the sites like I always do and I saw a very shocking and sad headline. Twenty-two year old Dan Quirk who used the name Spider died after his head hit the concrete floor during a match. Dan’s was catching his opponent that had just done a moonsault. Dan took the full impact of his opponent’s weight and crashed head first onto the floor. Some reports have it that Dan was revived for short time others say efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. This hit me so hard because of the way this all happened and because of Dan’s young age. I didn’t know Dan, I never heard of him, but it doesn’t matter. This was such a tragic accident and at 22, Dan had a lifetime ahead of him. My heart breaks for his family, friends and for all wrestling fans. This is just a frightening reminder of just how “REAL” and physical this sport is. Again my sympathies go out to Dan’s family.
Now let me give you my latest feelings on the whole Matt, Lita and Edge true life soap opera. If you recall when this all broke and Matt took it upon himself to go public with it on his personal site, I was all for it and I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. After all his best friend Edge and Matt’s longtime girlfriend Lita were having an affair and Matt’s life was shattered. I became one of Matt’s biggest supporters once WWE fired him. I joined his forum so that I could show my support during all of this. I was surprised that Matt who was knocked hurt so badly was now out of work because of the WWE firing. Yet, Lita and Edge kept their jobs. How could Vince be so cruel to Matt by firing him when he was going through so much personal pain? So I was with Matt 100 percent. When he rallied his M’Fer’s on his site to chant Matt chants anytime Lita and Edge came out, I thought this was great; let Vince hear from Matt’s fans first hand. And believe me these fans were heard because they managed to change Lita’s character. They made Lita’s life hell when every time she came out. There was no way that she could remain a face, the fans weren’t buying her sweet act on TV anymore. At the time I enjoyed everything that was going on, it made for some very exciting viewing.
But now I’m not quite feeling the same as I did months ago. Let me tell you why. At the beginning when this all happened Matt I believe looked like a decent guy who really got a bad rap, not only from his girlfriend and best friend but from Vince McMahon. Yeah when this all started Matt seemed to be the guy that deserved better and was being treated like crap. But Matt has lost a lot of my sympathy, not that he cares. This has all gone on way too long. See Matt wants Edge to get all the negative chants but not Lita, because Matt and Lita are back to being friends. But wait Matt was so upset that Lita kissed Edge the week before when she turned on Kane that now Lita is crap too. In fact after Lita and Edge joined up, Matt had a new mission for his M’Fer’s, it was to boycott Raw. And maybe that boycott worked since the main event drew much lower ratings this past Monday than the week before when Kane took on Edge. Maybe Matt was able to call the shots. But it gets tiring just like anything else. Now I don’t mind the boycott at all, I really don’t. What bugs me is as I said most of the time Lita can do no wrong where Matt is concerned, yet Edge is the one that Matt has set his sites on. My view is that no one put a gun to Lita’s head and she along with Edge are to blame. I will stand by my belief that because of Matt going public, which I still feel at the beginning was understandable, but because of that and because of getting the fans to give it to Lita when this all broke along with Edge, Vince slapped Matt, wait punched Matt right in the stomach by putting Lita and Edge together, with tongues in each other’s mouths and a script that was totally dedicated to Matt.
How many of us last week found Lita’s comments a little bit uncomfortable? However I think many of us also found it very entertaining because it hit home, she was talking to Matt when she looked straight into the camera. The more Edge and Lita kiss hug and just remain together the more Matt’s anguish will be looked at as yeah it was sad but what the hell this stuff is fun to watch. I am still sorry for all that Matt has gone through in the last few months; I think it’s awful but I also think that Matt needs to grow up and now take his feelings to Lita and Edge and not to the fans.
Well I’m sure this will upset many of you and that’s not my goal, believe me for a while my heart broke for Matt, but I can’t say that’s the case now, because this love triangle is basically a new storyline for WWE. And I guess we owe that to Matt and his M’Fer’s. I still wish the very best for Matt and if he shows up on TNA that will be great for that company along with his fans and TNA fans. Okay so tomorrow Raw is in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and I hope that Batista will be the one that comes out and opens the show, not Hunter. I hope it’s Batista that is able to at least verbally set Hunter straight about the Hell in a Cell match and physically put Hunter and Ric Flair in their place for what they did to Batista last week. I also hope that Shelton Benjamin has had enough of the new full of himself Chris Jericho. I think it’s about time Chris got some feedback from Shelton. I look forward to watching Mr. Entertainment, Viscera, come up with more surprises for Lillian. And I’m really anxious to see the build up for the ECW pay per view. I’ll be back on Tuesday with my Raw thoughts.
