Tonight’s the night that John Cena defends his WWE title for the first time in a pay per view. While I will not be ordering the show, you can bet that I will be checking results on a regular basis. Before I give you my predictions I want to say that I decided not to do a Smackdown column on Friday. For the last Smackdown before a pay per view the show did nothing to make Judgment Day look like a must see. I thought Smackdown was atrocious. I just didn’t feel like wasting your time and mine by talking about a miserable show. Enough of my complaining again thank you all for your emails with your picks for tonight’s show. There’s definitely a pattern. And the pattern is this; everyone seems to have a lot of different ideas about the winners tonight. So predictability doesn’t seem to be the theme of the show. I’m excited to give you my predictions and here they are.
Cruiserweight Title – Chavo vs. Paul London
Now this match is not listed on WWE.com, but supposedly it will take place. So I’m going to just go with it. If this match happens it should be a good one. You have two of the best in this division giving their all. I hope that Vince doesn’t find the need to give these guys 3 minutes. If this baby can have a decent time frame I’ll guarantee you it will be one of the best matches of the night. I still see London leaving with the title, and the feud continuing, which will be great for the fans.
Winner: Paul London
U.S. Championship – Orlando Jordan vs. John Heidenreich
I have very little to say about this match. In fact I don’t have anything to say other than I cannot believe that this is going to be on a show where the fans put out good money. I have this bad feeling that to push Heidenreich as a face he’s going to win the match.
Winner: John Heidenreich
WWE Tag Team Championship – MNM vs. Charlie Haas/Bob Holly
I’ll tell you right off this is going to be good. Maybe not the match of the night but it will definitely be right up there. Even though I’m not a Bob Holly fan it seems like after the beating he gave to Renee Dupree he’s really stepped it up in the ring. I know that’s a ridiculous statement but I’m telling you he has never looked so impressive has he has in the last few months. I know many of you know I’m very big on Charlie, and I would love to think that once the draft starts he will go to Raw and work alone. But along with Holly Haas has also looked very sharp. Then you have MNM. I saw them on Velocity last night and I’m telling you they are doing a super job. Each week they look more at ease. I’m counting MNM to retain the titles; it’s just too soon for them to lose. I really think this will be one of the best and entertaining matches of the night.
Winner: MNM
Big Show vs. Carlito with Matt Morgan
What the hell can I say about this match? I really haven’t a clue about the outcome. I will say one thing I have a feeling this might contain a lot of humor. Listen with Carlito’s facial expressions I can’t see this being a very serious match. I’m torn about whom to go with. On one hand CCC now has a body guard, Matt Morgan. What a way to break him in than by having his interference bring a win for Carlito. However on the other hand, Big Show lost at Wrestlemania in that Sumo match, so a win tonight I think would be a good thing for Big Show. I really have no idea what will happen, I was originally going with Big Show but right now I’m thinking Carlito, Yeah I will go with Carlito.
Winner: Carlito
Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio
Even though Smackdown did nothing for me this past week, Eddie’s silent in ring segment did a lot for me. Watching Eddie’s face and just being in that ring for a few minutes without speaking a word was outstanding. There are not many guys that could have accomplished what Guerrero did. This is one of the best written angles on the show. I feel bad I won’t bee seeing Guerrero and Mysterio go at each other, because I really believe they will make this match so much better than their Wrestlemania match. This is going to definitely be something to watch. I am going with Eddie but I’m not that confident. Since Rey has been out “selling” Eddie’s beating I think it makes more sense to have Rey return and beat the hell out of Guerrero. But I will stay with Eddie thinking that he will do anything he can to make sure he leaves as the winner of this match.
Winner: Eddie Guerrero
Kurt Angle vs. Booker T
Come on you know that this match is going to be awesome. While I haven’t enjoyed Kurt’s new perverted character, that character doesn’t affect Angle’s wrestling. With Booker in the last several months looking much more agile, much faster and Kurt definitely looking like his neck problems are a thing of the past; this is going to be and excellent match. Kurt has a habit of making his opponents look super in the ring so trust me this too will be a must see match. I’m going with Kurt. I wish I could give you a reason but I can’t. I don’t know if this feud will continue or maybe right from here Kurt will start going after John Cena and the title, so a win for Kurt seems to be the way to go.
Winner: Kurt Angle
WWE Championship – JBL vs. John Cena I Quit Match
John Cena isn’t losing this match. In fact it’s the only match that I know I won’t screw up. Cena will definitely win, and reports have it that it’s going to be a very bloody match, to cover up the weakness of both guys in the ring. Hey blood definitely can get the crowd going and if that’s what it takes then I see nothing wrong with that. With the crowd so into Cena, I’ll guarantee you that the more bloody this gets, the more Cena will sell and the more the fans will love it. JBL I won’t leave out either, he’s great at selling and this should turn out be okay. I will be good enough to please the fans at the arena and at home.
Winner: John Cena
Okay for those of you that will be watching Judgment Day, enjoy it. And for those of you like me that won’t be seeing it do what I do and check for results. And if Heidenreich should win, then you can all say I bet Linda is throwing things at home, trust me that has crossed my mind. I will be back on Tuesday with my Raw thoughts. Remember it’s Edge vs. Batista for the World Title. I can see it now Kane storming out there and taking Edge out so he loses the match. I can’t wait to see how Jericho’s character is portrayed tomorrow night. Will Jericho be cocky like he was last week when he was talking to Shelton Benjamin? Or will Chris go the other way and act like a face? I can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve. And finally with Hunter off, will we see Batista and Flair have another bonding segment? Hopefully Raw will Rock.
