WWE.com is plugging the obvious most improtant thing on tonight’s RAW – the final of the Gold Rush Tournament, as Edge takes on Kane. This is an odd pairing to begin with, and many people were upset last week when they found out that’s the final. Rightfully so. At any rate, the whole idea here is for a Lita turn on Kane, as she’ll join forces in a controversial way with Edge. As many have pointed out online, this probably means a Matt Hardy return down the line. Time will tell. I expect Edge to win, although I dislike the idea of him having two title shots. It’ll be interesting if he moves to SmackDown, while having both shots, and gets “screwed” again.
Ric Flair vs. Christian has also been announced, and this should be a good match. Two good workers, who can go quite the time if Flair is in shape. I am thinking this will either be a twenty minute bout (not likely), or a quick screw-up type of finish, that will put some heat on Christian. (More likely.) We’ll see how Tomko plays into this. Christian has been the hottest commodity on RAW in the past couple of months and he quickly caught on with fans, as there’s been more Peeps and Christian signs in the crowd, and they’ve certainly been giving him a face response here and there. I’m glad WWE has managed to somewhat keep up with that. They need to push Christian more, especially if he’s to jump to SmackDown! They shouldn’t have him lose to RAW stars and then send him to fight for the belt on SmackDown, as this belittles the SmackDown title.
Shelton Benjamin teams up with Chris Jericho to take on Daivari and Hassan. I would expect a turn heel on Chris Jericho’s behalf over here. However, they might stretch it out at first, seeing as they like to take their time with turns these days, and also since they have another turn possibly happening the same night (Lita). But the big picture in the long term here is that Jericho turns on Benjamin. He did mention two weeks ago that winning the Gold Rush Tournament match meant everything to him, and it’s his last resort.
No Chris Masters last week, so I’m guessing we’ll see more of the tag champs this week. If not, the Master Lock or another Simon Dean segment should be on.
Chris Benoit should be on this show in some shape, or form. That’s one good match guaranteed right there.
Big Vis should continue his ladies man storyline, which has actually been a hit with plenty of people online.
