The last PPV at THE Target Center was SummerSlam August, 1999 when then- Minnesota Governor and WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura served as a special guest referee in the Triple Threat Heavyweight Match between HHH® vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin™ vs. Mankind™.
Judgment Day commenced on October 18th, 1998 at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, Illinois. Back then, the main Event was Kane vs. Undertaker with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the special guest referee. With all the excitement surrounding this match, it ended in No Contest, when Austin made a 3-count on both men and declared himself the winner. The history behind this legendary PPV continues through the years with matches such as: Triple H vs. The Rock in a 60-minute Iron Man Match with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee (May 21st, 2000 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY), Undertaker defeating Hulk Hogan to win his 4th World Championship (May 19th, 2002 at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, TN.). One particular Judgment Day, May 18th, 2003 at the Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, NC is when John Cena made his Judgment Day debut when he teamed with Johnny Stamboli™ & Chuck Palumbo™ to defeat Chris Benoit, Spanky, and Rhyno. This was a historic moment for John as well as the fans that attended that night as they witnessed Mr. America (Hulk Hogan) defeated “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.
