I mentioned in Friday’s column that I would talk about the draft. I am finding that most of you are really into this draft that’s just weeks away. I have gotten a lot of great ideas about who should go to what show. I thought I would come up with a list of my trades. I wanted to take 10 from Raw and 10 from Smackdown, but I found that Smackdown fell short so I went with 6 from each brand. And I thought I would add a mini list called “let’s send the following to OVW.” I hope you will send me your ideas for the draft; I have to say I really am looking forward to the upcoming draft and I hope that they do trade a few names to even things off.
I will start with my Smackdown stars going to Raw. As I said this was tough for me. I think most of you know I would love to see Kurt Angle make a move to Raw. He’s been on Smackdown long enough and it’s time to give Kurt some fresh blood to mix it with. Just think Kurt vs. Batista for the World Title, not bad uh? Or what about Kurt vs. Benoit? It’s been a long time since these two had a feud. Anytime Angle and Benoit get in the ring they always put on a hell of a wrestling clinic for the fans, so why not get it going again? Definitely Kurt would be my first pick to go to Raw.
Now the next name isn’t a top star like Angle, but I really believe if this guy got a decent push Vince and the fans would not regret it. I’m talking about Charlie Haas. From the start when Haas and Shelton Benjamin were part of Team Angle I knew both of these guys had IT. And Shelton has proven me right time and time again. I know Haas could really make an impact if he was given the chance. I say bring him to Raw and let him go solo, no tag teaming for him. I’m telling you he has a lot to offer, and on Smackdown we just don’t get to see it. Really he’s seldom seen on Smackdown, because he’s become a regular on Velocity and I would love to see that end. Bring this man to Raw and let this guy do his thing.
Even though it’s Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio, I say make that a fast feud and send Eddie to Raw. It’s time to give the live fans Eddie. Like Kurt I think Eddie has run through just about everyone on that Smackdown roster. He comes to Raw and feuds with maybe a face Triple H., or perhaps Tajiri. Hey how cool would it be to give Tajiri a shot with one of the bests in the business. Eddie vs. Batista has lots of possibilities as well. A strong heel like Eddie would definitely add to Raw.
I’m sending Carlito to Raw. Carlito is perfect for a live show. You put him on Raw, have him do Carlito’s Cabana, and then keep him a heel. He could drive a lot of guy’s crazy on that show with his superior attitude. For instance what about Carlito vs. Shelton Benjamin. Working with Shelton would show us if CCC is as good in the ring as he is on the mic. We all got a glimpse of Carlito and Batista interacting I believe at the Royal Rumble, so eventually put Carlito up against Dave. I think it would make for a fun feud. CCC could definitely make Monday nights very entertaining.
Big Show has nothing going for him on Smackdown. I’ll be honest with you I don’t see Big Show really adding much to Raw either. But give the guy a chance and send him to Raw. Keep him a face and let Simon Dean have him. But you let Dean wrestle like he’s supposed too and maybe this would work out. I don’t know I’m grasping at straws with this one, because Big Show for some reason just doesn’t seem to fit in at all.
I can’t leave out a diva. Why not send Dawn Marie to Raw. Maybe they can work on her wrestling skills and really give her more depth to her character. I always enjoyed her in ECW. The dumb Dawn Marie was fun to watch and listen too. I think if more time was given to her she could make things kind of fun on Raw.
So now we are bringing some Raw superstars over to Smackdown. If Kurt is coming to Raw, I say send Christian and Tomko to Smackdown. This way Christian continues his push and gets to play with the big boys. Boys like John Cena. Smackdown would totally benefit having Christian on that show. And I still would like Tomko to remain with Christian, granted he’s not the best in the ring but his interaction with Christian is usually very entertaining. If Carlito is going to Raw with his Cabana show, I say send Jericho to Smackdown along with his Highlight Reel. Let’s face it Jericho has really worked with them all on the Raw roster. You send that man to Smackdown turn him heel and he not only has Cena but he has Rey, and Booker. Or keep him a face and give JBL to him. How funny would it be to see Jericho cut promo’s on JBL. Jericho is my second favorite wrestler and I would love to see him make this move and work with the top guys on the show. Smackdown is Jericho definitely works for me.
It is time to say goodbye to Kane on Raw. There’s a better place for him, and that place is Smackdown. I could see JBL all set to humiliate Kane. Who knows maybe at times Kane and Taker can team up and kick some ass. Raw has really brought Kane down. I think Thursday nights with Kane might be will be worth watching. Okay, I want to break La Resistance up, I would send Grenier to Smackdown, however Conway would be okay too. I don’t care which one goes as long as La Resistance is no more. If Grenier did go to Smackdown I would have a FIT if they put him back with Renee Dupree. Let Grenier dump that crappy gimmick and let’s see if he can fly on his own. Finally I say for Dawn going to Raw Stacy goes to Smackdown. For a long time Stacy has just gone through the motions on Raw. Since Christy came in and the other divas were hired it’s like they have no idea what to do with Stacy.
Draft her to Smackdown, turn her heel and maybe turn Torrie heel and let them get the best of the other divas. Have Stacy manage a heel. Going to Smackdown would be a definite promotion for Stacy. I think the fans would love seeing her on a new show and possibly as a character with a bitchy side to her. So there you have my draft picks, but don’t forget I mentioned OVW. Here’s the talent that would be going there tomorrow if it was up to me. I would send down, Gene Snitzky, John Heidenreich and Chris Masters. I would see to it that before they return, they can wrestle. Wrestle good enough that when and if they come back they have less mic time and a lot more matches with WWE superstars, not jobbers. I would bring them all back re-packaged but I certainly wouldn’t rush their returns.
I want to also say the following I’m sure will not happen but Hunter, Rock and Austin going to Smackdown would work for me. But as I said it’s not going to happen. I forgot to mention on Friday that Luther Reigns was released. It seems that Luther wanted his release feeling like he was not utilized the way he should have been. Okay let me hear from you and let me see your draft picks. Now before I end this, I want to share my theory with you about tomorrow’s night Raw. I guess you could say that it’s a given that Lita will turn on Kane and go with Edge. Originally I was thinking it would happen tomorrow night, with Edge meeting Batista for the title. But I am now going with Kane wins tomorrow night. It will be Kane vs. Batista for the title AND then Lita will turn on Kane; Edge will come out and beat up Kane. It will be Edge’s way for punishing Kane for beating him in the finals of the Gold Rush. However I could be way off and tomorrow’s Raw could be very interesting.
