Show Details: A recap of the Eddie/Rey/Chavo angle aired to start the show.
Eddie Guerrero was introduced and he came out to an altered version of his
entrance music. There was good heel heat, but they decided to add that fake
heat as well, which was annoying. Eddie sat down on a steel chair in the
ring and the lights dimmed. Eddie said people have been asking him
“why Eddie why,” which seems to be the same question every heel
turn gets. He pulled out Rey’s bloody masked and said he gave Rey
exactly what he wanted. He then turned on the fans saying they were living
vicariously through him and they were stealing his love and his Latino heat.
Guerrero said he’s got it back and he likes it. A small section
started chanting “Eddie.” Guerrero said he has Rey’s blood
on his hands now, and if Rey returns at Judgment Day, he’ll have
Rey’s life.
They said Booker T has challenged Kurt Angle for tonight and Teddy Long has
granted Booker’s request. Michael Cole said there’s footage on
WWE.com of Heidenreich making friends with all the divas, except for Dawn
Marie thank God. Apparently they were dancing to Cena’s new CD.
Obviously Dawn Marie wasn’t impressed. Heidenreich was scheduled to
fight Spike Dudley, because Spike wouldn’t be his friend. Heidenreich
asked the crowd if they would be his friend. They actually popped for this.
Heidenreich brought some snot nosed kid into the ring and read him a poem.
Heidenreich beat Spike with a spinning side slam.
Backstage, Booker was getting ready for his match. He then decided to have
some fun with Sharmell. He shouldn’t be wasting his energy before his
match. Chavo and MNM were backstage talking about various situations they
have with Paul London, Eddie and Rey. Josh Matthews asked Angle about his
actions last week. Angle said Sharmell hit him first, which is true. Kurt
then said he wanted to have perverted sex with Booker’s wife. Every
time they make strides at making Kurt Angle a more serious character, they
do something stupid like this. They aired the ECW promo.
MN & Chavo Guerrero /M vs. Paul London, Charlie Haas & Hardcore Holly
Paul London must be upset MNM stole his coat. London did his stomp to the
back of Nitro off the top and tagged in Haas, who worked the arm. Holly came
and they cleaned house on the other heels. With the referee distracted by
Holly, Melina grabbed Haas by the leg allowing the heels to gain control.
Small Chavo sucks chants started as he had control of Haas.
Haas battled out of the heel corner but Chavo hit a standing drop kick. Haas
came back with an Exploder suplex and tagged Holly who hit a full nelson
slam on Nitro and a drop kick to Mercury. He then hit a clothesline off the
top on Chavo but MNM broke up the count. Nitro hit Holly with a super kick
but Holly fell back towards London who made the tag. London cleaned house
and hit the dropsault on Chavo but Mercury broke up the cover. Chavo went
for the Gory bomb but London rolled through. Guerrero did a roll through of
his own and pinned London with his feet on the rope to pick up the win.
They showed clips from a Cena autograph signing at Best Buy. JBL entered and
announced the re-release of his “Have More Money Now” book,
which has a new picture of JBL instead of the beer swilling Bradshaw
JBL asked if John Cena realizes what he has been through the past 12 months
and explained there’s no way he will say “I Quit”.
Cena’s music hit and he went right after JBL without saying a word.
The Cabinet entered to save JBL. They held Cena back so JBL could tee off on
him. A bunch of cruiserweights, and Mark Jindrak, came out the break things
up. I don’t get that. Officials came out as well and the crowd chanted
for Cena. Good segment, I guess. They’ll need more to sell the gimmick
match though. The first Cena/JBL match gives no reason for anyone to believe
the second match will be any better, despite the gimmick.
Jimmy Jacobs vs. Eddie Guerrero
Guerrero’s new music starts with a ringing cell phone. Cell phones are
a passing fad. Guerrero placed Mysterio’s mask on the ring post before
the match as if it were the pig’s head from Lord of the Flies. The
referee checked both wrestlers before the match, but Eddie attacked Jacobs
while this was happening. Eddie put the mask on Jacobs and beat him down.
Guerrero gave Jacobs a spine buster on a steel chair and was disqualified.
They showed Cena’s video again, which allowed me to take a break. I
was thinking about the video in the back of my head and it was funny hearing
Gary Coleman open the video by saying “this is terrible.”
Matt Morgan vs. Funaki
Morgan made fun of the way Funaki talks. Indeed. Funaki wasn’t
impressed, so he poked Morgan in the eye. Cole said it was ironic that
Morgan thinks people laugh at Funaki for the way he talks when Morgan gets
laughed at for the same thing. No kidding Cole. Morgan won with his
finisher. Why did they have to victimize Funaki?
I can’t believe they had Heidenreich and Morgan in separate jobber
matches. Morgan is obviously the next guy in line in this rotation of big
men they use in the same push. Luther Reigns was a previous example of this
and now he’s gone. I’ll set the over/under for Morgan’s
demise at 10.5 months. I set Heidenreich’s over/under at 2 years when
he debuted, so he still has some time. Any takers?
Carlito brought out Big Show for the Cabana. Carlito basically asked Big
Show to be his muscle, I guess because they released Jesus. Carlito showed
pictures of Big Show at Mania in the sumo match, and said if Show was with
Carlito, he would always look cool under any circumstance. Big Show turned
him down so Carlito pulled an apple out of his pocket. Show grabbed the
apple and started to eat it but he fell to his knees sick to his stomach.
Carlito knew Show would turn down the offer, so he poisoned the apple, just
like the Evil Queen did to Snow White. Carlito slapped around a helpless Big
Show, which was funny. After the break, we were informed that Big Show was
rushed to hospital to get his stomach pumped.
Kurt Angle vs. Booker T
Booker went right after Angle at the start. The crowd was dead. Booker hung
Angle over the top rope and attacked him on the outside. Booker grabbed a
steel chair, but the referee snatched it away. This allowed Angle to blind
side Booker. Cole called this a cheap shot. Would you rather Angle not
defend himself? Angle had control in the ring but Booker came back with a
shuffle kick. Angle grabbed Booker by the tights and sent him shoulder first
into the steel pole. Angle then nailed the Angle Slam. Instead of going for
the Ankle Lock, Kurt ran backstage looking for Sharmell. Angle went into
Booker’s locker room and closed the door. Booker entered the room to
find Sharmell was screaming alone in a corner, and Angle attacked Booker
from behind. Angle gave Booker a beat down to end the show.
