Before going into tonight’s edition of Monday Night RAW, Trevor Hunnicutt takes a look at last week’s show which made tons of noise online…
Monday’s RAW was a strong show, featuring one good match after another, and showcasing more the strong work ethic and potential in the company than any sort of intelligence or direction–the lack of which remains evident (the Batista character is particularly weak, and honestly it’s more the writing than him). Luckily, it won’t take a lot of substance for WWE RAW to get from point A (now) to point B (Vengeance), and to that end they’ve reintroduced (again) the tournament concept. Kane, Edge and Shawn Michaels advanced in tournament matches (the last of which was another tremendous match from Shelton Benjamin, and a strong Edge/Jericho match), as did Chris Benoit, who surprisingly beat Triple H, who has seldom been out of the world title picture in the last several years. You can seperate RAW talent into three categories: the good, the bad, and the ugly. WWE would be wise to use their Benjamins and their Christians for once, and leave Chris Masters and Viscera at home.
