Hello to one and all.
It’s been quite some time since I’ve actually done a RAW thoughts report. Before I move on, a quick update – I’m still without a computer, and it’s killing me! At any rate, I’m hoping that my problems will finally end soon and I will be back to 100%. Joe Balrog is doing a great job in keeping the site rolling while I’m gone for which I thank him.
No more bitching. On to business…
WWE actually pulled the plug on Lita at the RAW tapings. Her promo/interview from the back wasn’t aired in the arena in its entirety. The second her image popped on screen, there was a loud chorus of boos and a definite negative reaction from the crowd. Although you could hear some of that at the beginning of the promo, the word we’re getting is that they were much louder. The second her image popped on the titan tron and the boos started, WWE pulled the plug, and the screen in the arena went blank.
That’s a pretty good example of what’s been going on with RAW lately. Yesterday’s show was pretty painful to sit through, to be quite honest. I didn’t get the chance to do a RAW Preview this week, but I would have mentioned how poorly they’ve done pushing the Batista-Triple H feud, which did continue last night.
The Trish Stratus-Viscera segments were a disaster waiting to happen, and if it wasn’t for Trish Stratus’s creativity, this would have exploded. I felt that she saved the segments a few times, and there were a few spots where you could get a cheap laugh or two. Overall, it was bad.
Mohammad Hassan and Daivari continue to be pushed, and I personally feel that they have been very impressive as of late. However, as they continue to be pushed, they continue to be booked silly, and it doesn’t help.
The bright spot on RAW for what seemed to be a second week in a row is called Christian. Last week’s pop in Madison Square Garden carried on this week in Birmingham. WWE for once tried to experience, and having booked him in a face role in his earlier appearances on the program, Christian delivered big time. His segment with Tomko and Flair was tremendous, and his in-ring interview before the goofy Kane interference was also top-notch. It’s clear that the crowd is buying Christian’s character and want to turn him face. I feel that he has what it takes to be a major player on either show, seeing as he’s got better ability than the current main eventers, and certainly plenty of charisma. I’ve enjoyed watching him a lot, and I feel that his ability has been ignored by WWE over the years. Then again I’ve been singing this song for quite some time now.
So they managed to get Val Venis and the Hos… Sorry, the Divas… on RAW, but all they had for Chris Benoit was a one-minute interference? That was certainly not smart.
Compared to the last time WWE was in the UK and had a tremendous showing, this show was bad.
I hope to be back soon!
