Thanks to Dave Meltzer for the following…
Thanks to Tony Lee and other Japanese sources for the coverage
Kevin Randleman vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura is in the ring. Currently they are in round one. Updated they are in round three. Fight is competitive at this point without either man ahead by much. Nakamura won the unanimous decision largely based on domination of round two, where he got a lot of punches from the mount, a Kimura that looked like it would be the finish, and a guillotine. Round three was slow, with both getting yellow cards. Randleman took him down but did nothing with his position. In Japan, fans were very surprised at this result and it helped Nakamura a lot.
Dean Lister vs. Ricardo Arona is next.
Round one: Started with standing exchanges…Arona largely getting the better of
it. Pretty slow round, really. Lister getting several leg lock
attempts, but never really having Arona in any trouble. Lister also
got a pretty nasty cut above his eye somewhere in the mix…not sure
how. Looks like it won’t be a factor, but he bled all over the ring.
Round two: This was another slow round. Lister is holding his own, and it was a
pretty even round again. Right at the end of the round, Arona had a
really good triangle attempt but time expired. I’d have Arona ahead
on the scorecards. It’s been pretty even on the ground, but Arona is
getting the best of it when they are standing.
Round three: This was another slow round. There was a lot of ground work, and it
was back and forth on the ground. A pretty even round. Arona appears to have the decision based on damage.
Unanimous decision for Arona.
Igor Vovchanchyn vs. Yuki Kondo is up next.
Round one: Igor won the round. About 5 minutes in Igor used a kimura from the
bottom, and although Yuki eventually escaped, Igor got the full mount
because of the kimura. Igor pounded from the mount, but was never
really close to finishing Kondo. Surprisingly most of this round took
place on the ground.
Round two: Complete domination by Igor. He scored early standing. Got a
takedown, and controlled the round, slowly progressing from the guard,
to half guard, and ending in the mount. Yuki really didn’t do much
this round, and Igor has got to be way ahead.
Round three: More domination from Igor. The only question was whether or not
Kondo could hang on. He did.
Unanimous decision for Igor Vovchanchyn
Alistair Overeem b Vitor Belfort late in the first round with a hard knee and a guillotine choke. Said to be the best match so far on the show.
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira b Dan Henderson via armbar in the first round. Said to be really good
Kazushi Sakuraba b Yoon Dong Sik via knockout from punches very quickly
Mauricio Shogun b Quinton Jackson. Jackson broke his rib from lots of knees but continued, but after lots more knees and kicks the ref stopped it. A one-sided match.
Wanderlei Silva b Hidehiko Yoshida via decision. Said to be similar to the first match. First round saw Silva dominate standing but Yoshida control strong on the ground. We’re told Yoshida again won the round. Silva dominated round two, as once again, Yoshida gassed. Silva was winning the third round, but Yoshida made a big comeback at the end going for a heel hook and guillotine in the closing minute. Crowd went nuts. Decision was the right one.
